Surprised

I am not good at picking things off the internet. I was very pleased to see that the choice I made was good. Beds could have been softer but it was still sleepable. I would go back, I was in walking distance to everything I wanted to do.

Great place!

This place is literally across the street from Japan Center! The staff was ultra friendly and the atmosphere was great. They were able to give us great restaurant recommendations, directions to different sites, and booked a very comfortable towncar for us to get to the airport the last day. It was the most comfortable hotel I've stayed at in San Francisco, and I would stay there again!

4th Stay in 3 months

This was our 4th stay since Jan. Each time is a different experience. We only stayed overnight and was greeted with professional service. I still have disappointment with the hotel restaurant and the sub par food quality. Just need to eat somewhere else before arrival and eat somewhere else down the road and we will be fine. There are substantial price swings when making reservations through the online sites. One time it will be $199 the next $99. and this time $169. Middle of the week rates too.

great for being in one area

The hotel was very clean and the staff was nice but the location wasn't great. It was in a very nice and safe area of SF but it was hard to travel around the city from that area. We wound up changing hotels to stay in Union Sq where it was easier to travel around. If you want to stay in a low key area and don't mind a longer travel time to get to other areas of the city than this hotel is perfect.

Good (as expected) Stay

I stayed for seven days, Wed. to Wed. for business. The hotel's location is right in Japan Town. the room itself is nice, the lobby has a funky anime decor and the rooms are as pictured. Clean and presentable. There are soda vending machines, and the restaurant in the hotel is good if you're into Japanese/Korean fare. The area itself is nice and quiet, there are many retirement homes in the area so you will not have to worry about a lot of commotion late at night. I try to use public transportation and buses in San Francisco can take you just about anywhere. You can take the No. 2 or 3 bus across the street to take you downtown or go down the street and take the No. 22 towards Haight and Mission/Dolores. Otherwise Fillmore is right down the street and a great place for food and drink.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Take a right out of the hotel down Sutter towards Fillmore. Go right and you'll have several blocks of some great food and bars. Trendy french style cafes, Vietnamese Bahn Mi joint, full bars and a nice little old school theater. Cool area if you're looking for a nice evening out. But if your looking for something more adventurous... Go left on Fillmore take the 22 Bus and get off at Valenica. Awesome late night scene.

Second Hospital Visit

This was our second stay in less than a month. This time it was far better than the first. The room was better than before without all the mechanical noise from the heating unit. The small resturant on the second floor was very disappointing regarding the food quality and service.

Value stay at the heart of SF Japantown

Hotel Tomo located a really conveniently in Japantown. It's only a short walk away from many of the shops and restaurants. Overall, the rooms are clean and staffs are helpful. However, the AC was broken during our stay and it was too hot to sleep. Hopefully that's only temporary.
