Great Stay in Japan Town

Hotel Tomo is located in Japantown a very peaceful, beautiful, and clean part of San Francisco. Atleast for the week I was visiting. This was my first visit to San Fran. The hotel is located a minute walk from Japan Center and you can see it directly when you walk outside. I made use of the many Sushi bars and Japanese restaurants. The hotel was very simple on the outside but very bright and colorful on the inside. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who would like to save money and be in a nice part of town. The walk to attractions can be a little far but the bus routes are easy to use. Great room, location, and price.

Overnight Stay

Checked in very late and didn't use the overnight parking that was $25 on a first come, first serve basis because I didn't need it. Staff was friendly. Room was clean and everything was functional. Overall, I would give 4 out of 5 stars on this hotel. I didn't give it the full five because I didn't use all of its amenities and can't comment on that.

clean, quiet, good location

the room was very clean and quiet, with a really comfortable bed. the little gym was adequate, with a bike, an elliptical, a treadmill, a set of dumbbells, and a bench, and the gym has a nice view. the location was great, near both east/west and north/south buses.

Tomo

Overall, good but not great. Location is good with car. Rooms are Ok but not great. Building is renovated but still may need work per room when needed. Cool pace for young couples. In general it is quiet except non stop running ventilation system. Not recommend to noise sensitive people.

Tomo!!!

Hotel Tomo was a great experience. Excellent location, was my initial interest. Tomo is centrally located to all the sights and places in the city. The staff are very helpful. The only negative that keeps it from 4 stars is the noise factor. Tomo is a bit noisy. Perhaps it was my room location being above Mum's Restaurant and close to the elevators and housekeeping closet. Added plus was the security safe. Would definitely recommend to others....

Fun hotel in a great location

Hotel Tomo is in lovely Japantown and near Fillmore Street: two areas that are pretty, somewhat residential, but with many restaurants and shops. This area is much more low-key (and less touristy) than downtown. The hotel decor is charming (if you like anime) and fun. The gym is pretty tiny, and there isn't an easy breakfast spot nearby. Apart from that Tomo is a great way to live briefly in a delightful SF neighborhood.

Great Value

The location was perfect for visiting my brother who lives in San Francisco. If anything, the hotel should play up the anime angle even more. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, street parking parking was easy to find and the value for money was great. This is a no-frills hotel. My biggest complaint is that the free WiFi was horrendously slow. I paid for the upgraded service for a day and it wasn't much better.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

I was there for a week and borrowed my brother's car. I never had a problem finding free street parking right near the hotel.
