Just steps from Union Square and the Moscone Convention Center, the Nikko is perfectly located for business travelers in town for conventions. At the same time, it is comfortable for families accustomed to sophisticated luxury.

Great trip!

I had a great time in San Fran! The location was amazing, staff was super helpful, the room was in great condition. It was a little small but for a long weekend, it served it's purpose. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it was a little pricey. Everything cost extra, water was $6, wifi cost extra, gym costs extra, etc. But other than that, I loved it!

Room is small

Spent New Year's Eve here. The room I got was smaller than I expected. Aside from that, staying here was great because of the location, security and convenience (bar and restos, Starbucks in the hotel).

Perfect location & Great service!

I stayed 11 nights through Christmas and New Year. Everything was great. The staff was really nice from check-in to check-out. I didn't have any trouble during the travel. The location is literally a minute walk from Union Square. The room was clean and neat, smelled good. One thing that could be improved is that if they extend breakfast roomservice time. 8:30am is kinda early for me to have breakfast when I slept late the last night :)

Sophisticated

The Nikko is a lovely hotel. The flowers are memorable in that their placement and colors were well-selected. The bed was too soft and the pillows too hard, in my opinion. The concierge, Ernesto, is all one could hope for ! I went to see the David Hockney Exhibit. I shopped a bit at Gumps, I visited and dined with a friend in Piedmont, and I went to Tartine Bakery, which was so crowded, and I understand why! I would consider The Nikko again. The other hotels I have stayed are The Stanford Court and The St. Francis hotels. I'm sorry I didn't stay another 3 days to, at least, enjoy the Fienstein Bar and more museums and shopping. It's a lovely city. The Tenderloin area serves as a reminder that all Americans need to address poverty.

Single person traveling

The hotel and staff were excellant. The only drawback I could see is the location is very close to a district that single woman doesn't want to be walking in alone esp. at night. But if you know you're way around the city and are just smart about watching out for yourself, this is a good value and great area of town for food, music and the amentities within the Hotel Nikko!

great hotel for prime san francisco location

Well run hotel with lovely decor, good beds, great restaurant. Pool area not great because of slippery floor and difficult entrances to jacuzzi and pool. Otherwise, a great experience and location.

Hotel Nikko March 2013

Very nice hotel in downtown San Francisco by Union Square. I stayed on the 8th floor. High pressure flushing toilets got annoying ... especially when flushed by other residents at 5am. Seemingly every morning between 6-7am, there was loud banging outside in the street. Wished the rooms would've had microwaves, but they don't. I was really in the room for sleeping for the most part and it wasn't the quietest. If you want a good location, you have to sacrifice some of the finer things. It was still a nice stay.

Hotel Nikko San Francisco

The issue really comes down to how a hotel chooses to make additional money. They can either charge more for the rooms or charge for amenities. Most of us think hotels should find a way to make rooms and amenities affordable. But at Hotel Nikko SF, they charge for internet and use of the fitness center. I think hotels that do that are lame. A $20 one time fee for fitness center use and $20 per day use of wifi is ridiculous. Otherwise, a great stay in a comfortable and clean that had a pleasant staff.
