Sophistication with an Asian flair and an indoor pool near Union Square

Hotel Nikko feels more like Hong Kong than San Francisco. The lobby is spacious, featuring white marble and rooms are minimalist in design. The on-site restaurant, Anzu, serves up Asian food with a Japanese focus. Distances at the on-site pool are measured in meters. Just steps from Union Square and the Moscone Convention Center, the Nikko is perfectly located for business travelers in town for conventions. At the same time, it is comfortable for families accustomed to sophisticated luxury.

Highlights
  • Live jazz at Feinstein's at the Nikko nightclub
  • A short walk from the shops and restaurants of Union Square
  • Spacious fifth-floor indoor pool
  • Sushi and other Asian-inspired fare available at on-site restaurant Anzu
Rooms

With 510 rooms and 22 suites, Hotel Nikko is one of the largest hotels in the Union Square area. All rooms boast views of the city skyline and San Francisco Bay. Guests are pampered by amenities such as Subarashee Yume pillow-top beds, Frette linens, large flat panel TVs, stereos and CD players. The concierge floor and suite bathrooms feature miniature televisions set inside the main vanity mirror. Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access are available in all rooms (fees apply).

Features

Luxuriate for an afternoon under the atrium of Hotel Nikko's fifth-floor solarium, which houses a pool, 24-hour fitness center and spa (fees apply). The Nicolas Salon, located in the lobby, provides expert hair styling for both men and women by appointment (fees apply).

Dining

Anzu, Hotel Nikko's second-floor restaurant, specializes in what it calls "EuroJapanese" cuisine -- a mixture of Japanese dishes and French and Spanish fare. The eatery's bar is known for its sake martinis. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Entertainment

Feinstein's at the Nikko, a jazz lounge on the hotel's lobby level, offers a variety of headliner entertainment in an intimate and sophisticated setting. World-class entertainers such as Ashford & Simpson, Keely Smith and The Supremes' Mary Wilson perform most nights. The lounge offers a chic full bar, specialty cocktails and extensive wine list. Light cuisine also is available.

Perfect in every way

Lots of hotels are fancy but the Nikko staff made this fancy hotel something special. Always smiling and always going out of their way to help but never being pretentious or snooty they were great! I would definitely stay at Nikko next time I need a hotel in SF.

Sophisticated

The Nikko is a lovely hotel. The flowers are memorable in that their placement and colors were well-selected. The bed was too soft and the pillows too hard, in my opinion. The concierge, Ernesto, is all one could hope for ! I went to see the David Hockney Exhibit. I shopped a bit at Gumps, I visited and dined with a friend in Piedmont, and I went to Tartine Bakery, which was so crowded, and I understand why! I would consider The Nikko again. The other hotels I have stayed are The Stanford Court and The St. Francis hotels. I'm sorry I didn't stay another 3 days to, at least, enjoy the Fienstein Bar and more museums and shopping. It's a lovely city. The Tenderloin area serves as a reminder that all Americans need to address poverty.

Excellent location

Nikko hotel is just a blocks away from Union Square where many department stores, boutiques and restaurants. Very very close to cable car on Powell street. Clean, quiet and just right size hotel. You don't have to walk long hallway to get to the elevator as the rooms are situated around elevators. Very fast elevators.

Business trip

When entering the hotel the lobby and exterior are not that impressive. They definitely need a facelift! Rooms are nice but small. Location is great. Tough to get spa service on the weekend.

nice hotel, will stay here again

stayed here for only one night. but had a very good experience here. very comfy bed... had a good sleep like a baby. staffs were friendly, good location. the only negative point was i could hear people walking on the hallway and door sound. Just a little sound- proof issues. But since I was really tired, it didn't bother me that much. So I DEFINITELY will stay here again when I go to San Francisco.

Good location, excellent staff

Good location and the staff is terrific. Our room was somewhat small and furnished rather sparsely, but it was clean. If you are looking for a no-frills stay in SF, this is a good bet.
