Great Renovated Hotel in the heart of San Francisco

This is a lovingly renovated old hotel in SF. The staff are all great. Farmer Brown's restaurant on the main floor level serves local and organic food. I ate there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is only a block or so from BART. Lots of other businesses and Restaurants are nearby. The price is also quite affordable. It is going to be one of my favorite SF hotels for upcoming trips.

Good location but pricy..

Location is good, as it is less than 100 yrs from Powell station, food, convenience stores, everything is around walking distance. Parking is $15 overnight and all day in/out is $30 for guests, which is pricy but very convenient if you decide to drive into town. Rooms have WIFI, minibar, coffee maker, safebox, all basic amenities for today's traveler, but no AC, I wonder how summers are. Rooms are accetable, clean, but kind of small. We thought rates were high, but SF is just so expensive in overall

Cheap Hotel

The location is close to Union Square but is pretty run down, smelly, and a bit shady. I did not feel unsafe in the hotel at all, as you needed a key card to access the room levels. Clean but old.

Stay at the Met

If only the hotel was located two blocks over, it would be awesome. It's located right on the border of Tenderloin. However, it is just two blocks away from the happening spots.

Great renovated hotel in downtown San Francisco

The hotel is right at the corner of Mason and Turk St. The big sign is only visible if you are driving South on Mason. If you are walking from the Powell St BART pass Farmer Brown rest on Turk Street and immediately go into the hotel lobby. The staff are all extremely helpful. The hotel is old but the renovation makes it all very nice. I ate two dinners at the Farmer Brown restaurant connected to the hotel.

Farmer Brown restaurant does not look like much, but the food is great. You don't even have to walk outside to go into the restaurant .

Nice hotel, unhelpful staff

The hotel is nicely maintained. The staff was unpersonable and not friendly. Checking in I was hit with a bunch of unexpected charges that could have been waived if they cared about their guests. The parking fee of $34 a night was not only outrageous but no warning of the fee was given. There was dirty underwear found in my bathroom when I checked in. The maids basically just made the beds. They didn't clean the room daily I wasn't treated like someone they wanted to come back therefore I won't .

horrible hotel

The hotel rooms are very small. No space to move around. Hotel is located in a very bad area! I didn't feel safe and was afraid to leave my vehicle. Over night parking is $30 they dnt inform you of that until you check in. The area of the hotel forces you to pay for the $30 parking to make sure your car is safe. There was a shooting right across the street where a woman was killed and another left with life threatening injuries. Loud all night long and people shouting up and down the street. Drug and crime area!!! Dont waste time and money on this hotel not worth it! Your life could be at risk! I would never ever stay here! This is the worst hotel ive been to in my life! Never again horrible experience! !

4 out of 5

I give this hotel a 4 out of 5 rating. The staff are friendly and really are nice people. It's not a 5 start hotel, but it's very nice for a budget conscious person. They even have a complimentary wine hour with free California wines. We enjoyed it and the company of the others who came to enjoy it. Only had 2 downsides for me, which are not too bad. 1, the center of the bed was depressed. That means me and my wife woke up all bunched together. Could be just the room we were in, but it happened. No big deal to us. The second is that this hotel lays on the very edge of the "tenderloin" district. The homeless people do abound. Right around the corner it is an entirely different story. So walk out, walk fast and don't make eye contact. Within 30 seconds you will be in the "nicer" part of the city. Just do not stand outside at night by yourself.
