i wouldn't recommend it. i checked out and stayed elsewhere.

IT was dirty, I did not like the room and it smelled musty. the linens were old and rough and the hotel itself needed a makeover. hard to get a cab anywhere, and i did not feel comfortable sleeping there so I checked out.

If you love Japan, you'll fall in love with Hotel Kabuki

The room looks just like a japanese room, only larger (hey, it's America). Not to mention the location in Japan town next to all the ramen and udon and kimchi... Outside the lobby there's a gorgeous garden with red carps swimming in a small pond. A dream hotel.

Getting away for the weekend

I love this hotel. I've been with family, including 2 young kids, and solo. The rooms are tasteful, clean, and beautifully decorated. Amenities are nice. The soaking tubs are terrific. It's never disappointed. Parking can be expensive, but the location is worth it. And--they take pets. Next time, we're going to take our puppy. We will definitely return for a quick getaway.

My San Francisco Home

This truly is my home when I visit San Francisco. The convenience is incomparable. It's centrally located right on Geary which is a major thoroughfare, but not in the midst of the downtown bustle. It is attached to the Japan Town Center so dining and shopping at all levels is a short stroll away. There are even some markets for snacks and drinks, and parking is always available in the large underground garage that services both the hotel and the Center. You should know that there is a $25 per night parking charge and that this does not cover in-and-out. This my only gripe. This is a Japanese hotel, make no mistake. The decor is tasteful and the tubs are soaking deep. You will feel pampered.

Time-saving tip: In Hotel

If you drive in, park on the second floor down so that you can roll your suitcases across a level floor. The first parking floor has a staircase up to the elevator level.

Weekend Getaway

I booked this hotel on a whim, only knowing I wanted to stay in Japantown. The staff was great and took care of any questions I had quickly. The hotel bar/restaurant was great and the hotel was located to many restaurants and shops. The room and bathroom were very good and clean, I just wished the wi-fi was better. All in all I can see myself back here.

Great place

I was pleasantly surprised by this Hotel. I have rented rooms for 20 years in SF and it is tricky to find a nice place at a good price. This hotel is really nice and I love the Fillmore area and Japantown. Perhaps a little away from the touristy areas downtown but very nice. friendly staff helped me with faxes, finding a cheaper parking space. All in all a quiet, clean large nicely decorated room at a good price.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Great jazz clubs nearby on Fillmore e.g. Yoshi's. Also the Sundance movie theatre is great and 2 blks away and Fillmore going north is full of restaurants. A real neighborhood- nice part of SF (Pacific Heights)

excellent hotel

I visit sanfran about twice a year. The hotel staff was very helpful and the room was spacious, comfortable with a large deep tub and separate shower which was wonderful. The Kabuki Spa and Springs and Sundance Theatre were within walking distance (which i highly recommend) as well as public transportation. Union Square is about a 10minute bus ride if you take the 38 from Geary st. The only issue with this hotel is that there is no decent restaurant and the work out room is small and limited other then that I would stay there again.

Great staff, Central Location

My mother stayed here while visiting. She raved about the staff. Helpful and polite, the staff addressed her wake up call needs along with fixing the temperature in the room.

Great place, nice location

Got a great deal [...] for this hotel while my father was visiting for Thanksgiving. It was clean and nice, rooms weren't too big but had everything you could need. It was in a great location, near major streets to easily access highways and things, but not in the middle of the rush of the city. If you live in SF, I would highly recommend this as a place to put visitors while they are in town.
