Easy, Quiet, Comfortable Choice

No major issues here - great location; clean, average size SF room (small). The view from room 906 was nice. Took awhile to get hot water up to that floor late at night for a shower. Hotel staff was pleasant and it was nice of them to advise us to self park for almost half the price of valet. Also, the happy hour in the hotel restaurant was great! I don't know if I'd stay here again. It was near the Fillmore (went up for a show) so maybe...

Nice hotel

It's clean and comfortable. The only issue might be with the location - it's not exactly center. But we liked the quarter anyway.

Convenient location

Very close to the Presidio, Golden Gate Park, downtown & Ocean beach. There was a bit uncleanness, for example; coffee cup still had residue of lipstick, spill marks on lampshades, etc..

Beware if you are taking your dog!!!!

I stayed at this hotel because it was a good deal and was listed as pet friendly. While they don't charge extra for your pet, when I checked out they found that I had spilled some water on the floor and charged me more than the hotel fee saying that my dog urinated. They were looking to charge people with pets with any little excuse.

The Service

I feel that the front desk clerk was rather unfriendly. I reserved the room for adult guest of four. It was a queen size bed and a roll in stretcher. Then, there was not enough towels and toilet tree to accommodate for four people. The worst of it all was the bath tub that had a dark ring around that was not cleaned. The whole experience made me wonder whether or not If I can trust another offer from you. Thank you.

everything is great but location is kind of far

It's in japantown which is a bit far from the central, main areas, of SF. But Japantown is def a safe and clean area. The staff are friendly and helpful! I enjoyed my stay there.

Ladies Mini get away

The hotel was very nice. A couple downfalls- I went with my girlfriends, I did not realize the shower door was clear glass window. We managed to work with it. The hotel is a cab drive to the main areas i.e- Market, Ferry building. The door man wasn't to helpful on the area, we arrived Friday night and were hungry we asked what was open and he suggested Mel's Dinner. I didn't go to SF to eat Mel's. On Sunday we got to do some walking (after the rain had stopped) and then realized there were so many little shops and bars down Fillmore 2 blocks away, which I wish he would have mentioned. Overall this was a great weekend with the exception of Friday night.

Yay Kabuki!

The renovation on this hotel is really beautiful and we were very impressed with how comfortable, clean, quiet, and lovely everything was - especially for the price! This is a great location too. While it isn't in the center of some of the standard tourist or business areas, it is located in a spot that is ridiculously convenient by car and by public transport. In a city so small, it is also easy to walk everywhere from here if you have a love for walking about. I didn't visit the spa/bathhouse on this trip but can say from previous experience that it is one of my favorite experiences of any city. If you aren't comfortable with nudity, however, you should skip it. I think the Hotel Kabuki is my new default San Francisco hotel.

at the center of things

Lovely public spaces, good service, and pleasant staff. Room well-appointed and attractively decorated; esp. liked the Japanese-style bathroom. Great view from the 15th storey, looking south. Flaw: room very HOT; no temp control; no way to obtain fresh air except opening the window, and that provided too much traffic noise. Staff provided a fan, but IMHO hotel needs an HVAC upgrade. Location was perfect for us: walking to City Center, Nob Hill, and Japantown is fun.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Park in the Japantown underground lot for $16 a day, and park a few steps from the hotel elevator - but NOT handicapped accessible from the parking lot, as far as I could see: high staircase.
