A step out of the ordinary

Comfortable room with out of the ordinary decor, (Japanese screens, artwork.) Beds were good with soft sheets. Loved the wet room with cleansing area and deep soaking tub. (If traveling with modest (teens) note there is a glass door for wet room.) .Nespresso machine in the room with great coffee. Service is friendly and accommodating. In-house restaurant was closed (looked cool) as it was Monday, but the Japanese mall right next door gave us many many choices of great food.

Good and Bad Hotel Kabuki

The lobby is impressive with Japanese decor and location to the Japan Center offerring Japanese restaurants, shops and a grocery store. Parking is convenient to Japan Center if you don't want in/out priviledges otherwise you park for a higher rate with hotel valet. Staff are professional and friendly. Rooms are clean, I found the shower privacy wanting because there is a glass door so you have to use the door to toilet to block viewing. The hotel is convenient within a couple of blocks of Starbucks and Safeway via a walking bridge. You need to take a taxi to Fisherman's Wharf, it is too far to walk. The bus route off of Van Ness did not work for us....waited too long for the bus. The walls between rooms are very thin. You can hear every word spoken by your neighbor. Balconies are shared with room next door so you cannot leave your sliding door open with comfort.

Hotel Kabuki

Free internet was great--most hotels don't offer that. The lounge was nice too--good drinks and tapas--not too expensive for San Francisco prices. The hotel room was clean and average size, you can take out the super expensive mini fridge items and use the refrigerator for your own stuff, which is nice. The bathtub/shower room is a plus and made the room above average. My sons loved that it was next door connecting to the Japanese mall--there is also a Peace Plaza where they could run around, so I liked the location. If I went to San Francico again or didn't have young kids I might prefer to be by Market Street/Union Square. It was an easy bus ride to most places though. Service was consistently great.

Good value and good location

Only gripe I have was the air condition system. Even though each room had a thermostat, it was a central heating that depended on a central control so I was told by the building engineer. I had to sleep with the sliding glass door ajar. Thei valet parking was a bit high but worth having to look for parking every night. The location was within easy access to public transportation. Overall it was a good place to stay and centrally located.

Great Place! Will stay again!

Check in was a breeze. Nice desk staff. Hotel is very nice, feels very Japanese, very well done. Hotel is in a nice, quiet area, completely free of the homeless in immedate area (typically most tourist areas in SF have allot of homeless). It is located in Japantown, which isn't as busy as most other areas here, so it is pretty quiet. We stayed in room #811 a corner King room, which was nice and big enough for 2 adults & 1 small child. (Spacious rooms also rare in city!) Room and hotel are pretty clean. Everything in room is super cute Japanese style from beautifully painted sliding privacy screens, a wonderful Japanese soaking tub- which is a super deep tub, yummy lemongrass bath salts & soaps, and even tea and tea set! In room coffee maker & hot pot for hot tea. Oh and there's even a medititation garden outside the lobby that is so serene and beautiful! We will surely be back here! I've stayed in allot of places here over the years of visiting, and I am very impressed with Kabuki Hotel! Booked thru (name excluded) for $99/night (weekend rates) such a great deal!
