quick trip
I have to stay only few days (arrived Fiday at 3.30 am, left Sunday at 8.45 pm) I enjoyed the comfort of the room very little, but it was a very special experience. Decoration and warmness in the room were appreciated, specialy because the weather was cooler than I expected. Nerby there are a lot of places to eat delicious, and to make some shoping or windowshoping and lots of places to entertein yourself. The hotel is located en the heart or Japan Town, and for me the architecture and the culture Of Japan it is very atracttive and interesting. If I ever return, i wish to have time to know everything about it.

Short walk from hotel
One can choose from many, many diferent kind of cuisinne right in the east mall, and in front of the Hotel, a little bit down in Post st, there is a Chinese restaurant, its food is delicious and fresh and so busy you have to wait for a table. In the back of the Hotel, (Geary St) you can take a bus and be at Union Square in 10 minutes, there you will find all kind of fine stores and then you are near to Chinatown, you would not want to miss it. I had the opportunity to visit It and was unexpected to see this chinese festival, with this beautiful costumes and a big radiant dragon, quite an experience!

Great
Very quaint hotel in the middle of Japan town. There are plenty of restaurants in the area. We did have one noisy neighbor early in the night, but they quieted down at 10pm.

Relaxing Hotel that needs a better location
This is a nice and confortable hotel. The staff was very friendly. My wife and I stayed here for three nights and the Japanese tub along with the comfortable bed made it a very relaxing stay. The only problem we had was the location. Japantown sounding like a good idea, but in reality we found that its kind of depressing because it looks old and run down. It was not so great to have pan handlers asking for money everytime we walked around.

Use the Japantown mall parking garage. It is conected to the hotel and charges $19 a day rather than the nearly $40 a day for valet.

Great Place! Will stay again!
Check in was a breeze. Nice desk staff. Hotel is very nice, feels very Japanese, very well done. Hotel is in a nice, quiet area, completely free of the homeless in immedate area (typically most tourist areas in SF have allot of homeless). It is located in Japantown, which isn't as busy as most other areas here, so it is pretty quiet. We stayed in room #811 a corner King room, which was nice and big enough for 2 adults & 1 small child. (Spacious rooms also rare in city!) Room and hotel are pretty clean. Everything in room is super cute Japanese style from beautifully painted sliding privacy screens, a wonderful Japanese soaking tub- which is a super deep tub, yummy lemongrass bath salts & soaps, and even tea and tea set! In room coffee maker & hot pot for hot tea. Oh and there's even a medititation garden outside the lobby that is so serene and beautiful! We will surely be back here! I've stayed in allot of places here over the years of visiting, and I am very impressed with Kabuki Hotel! Booked thru (name excluded) for $99/night (weekend rates) such a great deal!

Forget it about it
Shared parking with a busy mall ($18 - valet was full!), p...c hair on the toilat that I had to fix because of water leak. Staff with fake smiles, one of the worst breakfast buffet - tasteless plastic. I asked the server (old Asian woman) if they have gluten free bread and she answered that they don't serve free breakfast. I wish I could put this exchange and more on you-tube. Stay away from this over priced hotel.

Tired and uninspired
Tired room, big crack in wash basin, broken toliet seat, chipped and dinged bedside table, crummy tv, no movies, "popcorn" ceiling circa 1962. This place really lacks the typical JDV hotel chain zip. Big disappointment and way too expensive for what it is.
