Not impressed

The hotel was not in the location that I was led to believe. We were looking for a hotel that was walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf - this is not it. The rooms were incredibly small, and the beds were horrid. If you looked at them the wrong way they squeaked and moved. That was all tolerable; what was not was the parking. We were told it was $37 for valet (we could have saved $12 by parking it ourselves and walking) with in and out privileges. What we were NOT told was that it was $37 PER DAY! In addition they told me, upon checkout, that it would take 1/2 hour for my car to be brought up!!!! WTH?! I did not pay the $74 they tried to charge me for valet, I let the clerk know that we were not informed it was a per day charge, nor does it say that on their sign regarding valet. Not impressed.

Bijou ickypoo

booked the room day before on internet. room ready on time at 3:00. shower curtains smelled and gave room a sour smell. sheets barely covered top of bed and did not fit. same with blanket. fights/yelling/screaming at all hours outside. single pane glass did not keep sound out. tried to charge me for a breakfast that was included. room was worth less than I paid. Update the windows, sheets, shower curtains and breakfast and the experience would be more positive.

Gem of a hotel in a great location

Loved the thematic decor of this little place. The location was great and convenient for my meetings and sightseeing. The staff was fantastic and couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The rooms are a little small, but why stay inside in such a great city anyway? A little noisy with the street traffic, but foam earplugs blocked it out. I will definitely stay here again!

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Check out Tartine Bakery at 600 Guererro Street. It's a 35 min walk from the hotel, but easy to get to and find. The morning buns are the best! Also Old Siam thai food right up the street from the hotel was great, too!

Bijou's the Best

What a wonderful place! Hotel Bijou is just a few minutes walk from the Bart Station, Cable Car connections & Union Square. Everything we needed from delicious restaurants to live theater to shopping to art galleries was easily within walking distance. The staff are extremely personable and helpful. We loved the little theater and the free coffee, tea & hot chocolate 24/7. Next time we'll be sure to take advantage of the free San Francisco-themed movies shown nightly. The lobby is delightful & welcoming. While rooms are a bit small, we hear they are about average for San Francisco, and they are fun, cozy & clean, & furnished nicely. The bathroom was a good size & there was a large closet. We had a room facing the street and it was a bit noisy at times, but we thought it just added to the atmosphere! As a couple, we loved this place and will certainly come back again. I would recommend this for friends, singles, & couples.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Buy a "Muni Pass" at the Visitor's Center at the Bart station (just a couple of blocks away). You can get passes for 1, 3, or 5 days - then you can ride the Cable Cars & any buses as much as you want. What a deal! We rode the cable cars every day - to Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardeli Square, China Town, etc. So much fun!

Good value, not so good location

Given the description of the hotel, I was disappointed. Most importantly, the hotel is on the edge of the Tenderloin, which as undesirable part of San Francisco. The overall experience was satisfactory, and the room rates were quite good. The valet parking was convenient, but the amount of time it takes to get the car can be anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes.

Hotel Bijou

The price is right in an outstanding location - convenient to Bart & Muni Metro - easy to get to the airport or from Amtrak; near the cable car line. Rooms are adequate & clean and continental breakfast is provided. The neighborhood can be a bit noisy at night, but no serious complaints.
