stayed in better places

I have stayed in SF about a dozen times. The hotel was too business oriented. Room was TINY!! Bathroom was small and not clean when I arrived. Too much going on with no personality. But it was a decent location. By far the worst hotel I have stayed in SF.

Overall okay

While I was there I was attending a conference, which was hosted at the hotel. It was nice to be near the conference, but the rooms and the hotel itself were a bit run down. The hotel bar was great though and so were the drinks. I wouldn't really look to stay here again, but I wouldn't be angry if I had to.

Poor value for money

Rooms were nice, but very small. Must pay extra to use fitness center. Concierge was very helpful in finding a rental car for the weekend. Did not swim in outdoor pool, as the weather was too cool.

Lacking in four star magic

I would have to say that I was totally underwhelmed by the Hilton. Other than the grand entrance hall the rooms were of a very average (if not poor) standard and in my opinion it is lacking in some four star magic (to compare it to other 4Star hotels).

Constantly trying to charge more

Hotel employee kept trying to upgrade us and charge us more for an already pre-paid room. Parking was astronomically priced high!!

Hilton Union Square

Wanted to spend one night in San Francisco following the Giants season opener with my wife on her birthday. Wanted a tower suit room with views of the city. Due to Hilton union workers strike, we did not get the room we booked, on a much lower floor, and we were yelled at and acosted by striking workers each time we entered or left the building.

Small rooms but big service

The hotel has top-notch service. The concierge team, particularly [...], is extraordinary and helpful. The cleaning staff is great. This is a well-run hotel.Unfortunately, the rooms are too small and somewhat retro, a reminder of when Hilton was top of the heap and could get by with less than stellar accomodations because it was, well, Hilton.
