Vintage Service!
World Traveler Oct 5, 2009
I was in town for a college football weekend and needed a hotel close to friends staying in the Financial District. I had ... seen this hotel many times when formerly living in San Francisco but had never experienced it. The service attentiveness from the reception folks, to the hotel operator, to the concierge and the bellmen was exemplary. Very vintage San Francisco when it comes to hotel service. Traveling throughout the US I rarely see this type of end to end service experience in US hotels. The service reminded me a bit of being in Asia, perhaps because this Hilton is adjacent to Chinatown? Don't know.

Incompetent Staff
JAM Oct 1, 2009
No one on the staff seems to be familiar with their computer system. Long lines at check in. Long wait for elevators. ... Queen size beds at this property are all located in handicapped rooms,[...] The front desk agent also failed to point this out upon check in. Operator and front desk staff never answered the phones when I tried to call to complain about my room. Manger offered an upgraded room for second night of our stay but couldn't deliver. I usually stay at Le Meridien down the street from this property and chose the Hilton to save $100. Will gladly pay more next time to stay at Le Meridien.

Nice but a little overpriced
Weekend Visitor Sep 14, 2009
Overall I liked this hotel but I thought for what you get it does seem a little overpriced. My boyfriend and I were in town ... to see the Giants game and it was only 10 minutes by cab from AT&T Park. Everyone was friendly and the customer service was great. However, I was a little shocked at an additional charge for parking of $50.00. The room was good, comfortable bed and pillows, clean and the heat/air conditioning worked great. It was a little noisy at night as the party goers were coming in from their nights adventures. Other than that it was a good stay.

I addended a conference at the hotel for Pensco Trust and stayed at the hotel for convenience. It worked out fine. First ... time to SF in 40 years. Took a tour from the hotel the last day. Also got a good recommendation for a restaurant around the corner from one of the hotel staff.

The best view of the bay
Chilli Sep 6, 2009
I was stunned by the view...it was amazing. I could see the bay, Russian Hill, North Beach, Coit Tower, ...the sunset was ... amazing. The front desk was very helpful. I needed information about ground transportation and tours, they gave me the best tips. My room was clean and spacious. Wireless internet worked at all times. I stayed on the 15th floor but I could still hear noise from the streets but that was the only downfall of my stay in this hotel. It is at the great location. It is walking distance from Union Square, North Beach, Chinatown, Ferry Buidling, Financial District, Market Street...I really liked my stay at this Hilton.

Far East Cafe (631 Grant Ave) in Chinatown is a classic 1920s Chinese restaurant (not a fast food type) with tasselled lanterns and carved screens. It's a beautiful place to eat lunch (they have a special lunch menu) or dinner. They serve fresh seafood dinners. Their meals are delicious. If you want to have a real classic Chinese cuisine experience, I recommend this restaurant.

My Stay @ Hilton San Francisco
Sean Aug 24, 2009
Hilton San Francisco Financial District is located in the middle of Downtown and close to China Town. Everything is within a ... walking distance, except it is crowded and the hotel does not provide parking. It is every expensive for parking $25-$30 per overnight parking and $5/hr. It was a unpleasant trip due to the weather, noisy downtown, parking fees and the room I got close to the elevator which keeps me awake all nights.

Not what I bargained for
Roseman Aug 2, 2009
Despite our request, when we arrived we were assigned a smoking room. Upon getting off the elevator on the smoking floor, it ... smelled like a (tobacco) forest fire! Apparently, the maintenance staff don't like this floor, either. The sink drain mechanism didn't work and the toilet seat wouldn't stay up. The next day, we were able to move to a non-smoking room, but activity in the neighboring rooms was quite audible, even over the street noise. There are lots of better choices in San Francisco, and we won't be back to this hotel again.

Unbeatable Hotel for the Price
B from LB Jun 30, 2009
Each year my partner and I come up to SF for Pride. We were able to get a great rate on the room since we booked so early. ... But what we did not expect was so find such a great hotel. Our views were stunning, and the hotel was just a short walk from the Bart stations and Market street. For the first time ever, we just might stay at the same hotel again next year!

Quiet, nice, and hip hotel!
monique Jun 14, 2009
First off we got in 3 hours before check in time and they let us check in early. There is construction being done next door ... to the hotel right outside our window and not once was I disturbed by an noise. The room/bathroom was really clean and the beds were sooo comfortable. It is right smack in the middle of chinatown cool shops. I don't recommend eating sushi there (Sushi Boat bad service) I had to ask for my meal 3 times and they still didn't bring it my boyfriend and I ended up leaving! Alfrds steakhouse which is right next door to the hotel was delicious, pricey but great food! Be aware that you will have to pay for parking your car $30 overnight parking per day without being able to take your car in and out, or $54 for valet but your able to take your car in and out as much as you wish. I recommend just leaving your car, everything is literally walking distance and cable cars are available to take you around. North beach is awesome a lot of bars and clubs not family friendly at night, a lot of cops and party people. I can't wait to come back!
