Intimate boutique hotel with outdoor pool just steps from Union Square
This Union Square mainstay, dating back to 1908, mixes old and new under one roof. Older rooms bring with them a hearty dose of history; newer accommodations, completed in the last 15 years, are more spacious and have upgraded amenities. There's an outdoor pool -- a rarity for downtown San Francisco -- a heated sauna and an on-site barbershop. One of the city's most popular taverns, The Daily Grill, is located on the ground floor.

- Standard Queen Room
- Queen bed with newly renovated furnishings. Amenities include in-room complimentary coffee, irons and ironing boards, Internet access, flat screen TV, hairdryers and mini refrigerators. Rooms also feature individual climate control with A/C and heat.
- Premier Queen Queen
- Spacious 450 square foot rooms with two queen beds in the upgraded and modern Premier Section of the hotel. Featuring Serta Super Sleeper mattresses. Handy Hotel
The Handlery Union Square in San Francisco was located on Geary and in a great location for catching the cable car -- handy. It was clean and comfortable at an affordable price. I would recommend it to others.

There is a park and major shopping area just down the street. Since the cable cars run just at the end of the block, attractions are only a hop away.

This hotel was a good value for the price and location. The one negative was that the concierge was never at his desk out of a 4 day stay we only seen him twice!

Don't use the trolley cars as your main transportation around the city. The workers on the trolleys are rude and they are not reliable. We spent an hour at union square pickup area and another hour at fishermans wharf waiting on these trolleys.

In the middle of everything
This hotel was really nice for the money. The Handlery was truly in the heart of the city. The staff was so friendly and the conceige was so nice and made some suggestions that my daughter and I would never have known about if it were not for him. We will truly come back to beautiful San Francisco and stay at the Handlery.

All the major stores are within walking distance, H&M; Neiman Marcus, etc., Lots of little boutiques plus the big major stores. Walking in San Francisco is beautiful.

My review of Handlery Union Square
Great location in Union Square.Rooms were clean and quite large, with sofa, chairs, coffee table desk, and balcony. Check in was a littler slow but the staff were quite friendly. We would definitely recommend this hotel and we look forward to staying there on our next visit.

Handlery Union Square
We enjoyed our week stay at the Handlery Union Square. It is close to all sources of transportation and lots of great stores around. It is in the middle of a lot of action, very lively. We were able to rest comfortably in our lovely room and the service was great! They let us check in early.

Friendly and ready to serve
Staff was helpful with directions and service. Rooms, esp. bathrooms, were spotless. Beds and pillows very comfy. Some double rooms have the sink separate from the bathroom and shower so two can get ready. Perfect Location, downtown, in the middle of everything and walking is definitly an option. Food great!

Hotel is between Market Street for shopping and Chintown for eating/shopping.Walked to Fishermans Wharf Pier 39..13 blks. City Pass for unlimited Muni bus and cable car rides and free admissions. Tickets to Beach Blanket Babylon theater. Adult, political humor. Italian restaurants right around corner from theater.

Great location
The Handlery Union Square is one of mine and my wifes favorite hotels in San Francisco. It is located near Union Square where all the action is. Great people watching, catch a cable car, find a great restuarant. Shopping is nearby too.

Family friendly
My son and I stayed for 4 days and night and were very pleased with the location of the hotel, the amenities offered, and the friendly atmosphere as a whole. We were next to a cable car line and within a block to major bus routes that took us anywhere we wanted to go in town. There was an IMAX within easy walking distance for that rainy evening we spent indoors. Would easily recommend to other families wanting an 'in-town' experience.

Great Location
This hotel had very good amenities. The location was downtown Union Square and there was very good shopping nearby. It was very clean other than the fact that the carpet could have used a good steaming. There was a safe in the room. This location was convenient to access of cable cars and public transportation as well.
