Great all around hotel

Fantastic weekend at the Handlery. Was in town for a wedding, and this location put us right next to the festivities. Also very convenient to just sight see a bit on our off time. A lot of things are in walking distance. Had a great city view room.

Annual Mother/Daughter Christmas Shopping Trip

This is our third year into the city for Christmas shopping and fun and by far the best. The location and ease of parking is the big draw. And the fact that the staff is very helpful and friendly. You are 1/2 block off Union Square which really helps with the noise level. Anything on Union Square can be really loud. We will definitely be back next year! It's an older hotel but it has been remodeled. Our room was great!

Very pleased!

First time staying at this hotel and second time visiting San Fran. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. The only thing that wasnt perfect was the bed. It was stiff and provided moderate discomfort upon awakening, but that was overshadowed by this great city, great location within the city, and the great food.

Great stay

I stayed here over the weekend while I ran the Nike Women's Marathon. The location was great and so was the service. I really enjoyed the room service because after running a half marathon I didn't feel like going down to get food! The staff were very friendly and helpful and check in and check out was easy. I also expected more noice but was pleasantly surprised at how minimal the noise was.

great value and location

The Handlery was very comfortable and convenient. We asked for a quiet room before we arrived and they accomodated us. There was adequate room for our suitcases, hanging space and sitting areas. The location was fantastic, walk out the door to shopping and transportation. The included continental breakfeast was a plus. Excellent staff at the Daily Grill. Would definitely recommend!

great position

The hotel was in a very good position, so close to Union Square you were in downtown San Francisco e you could do anything you want. Clean, confortable for a so chip price. The best option for a week end in the city. The bed was very big. In the bedroom there was the TV, a sofa, a balcony every kind of facilities you need when you are far from home. I suggest it to everybody

Great location

Located right off Union Square. Easy to get to everything. Smallish rooms, but clean, modern, updated, classy... Dining options are limited to the one place next door to the hotel itself, but, come on, you're in San Francisco...cable cars run ion the corner. Great value for the money, location, town.

Great Place to Stay in downtown San Francisco

This Handlery Union Square is a wonderful hotel - this was our 4th stay there in 12 months. We were not able to get the room we wanted - without any hesitation the front desk clerk upgraded us and we were very happy with the room. The hotel is close to cable cars, street cars, great shopping, great piano bar next door and restaurants - everything to have a memorable visit to a beautiful city. The rooms are clean, the cleaning staff very friendly - everyone leaves you alone unless you need something. Perfect for that intimate week away!!

B2B weekend!

Bay to Breakers weekend! Great location for walking to the race and to accessing public transportation. Loved the fact that the room included a refrigerator for use (not to sell over-priced items).

Great location. Great price.

This was our first visit to SF, and we went to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary over the July 4th holiday. It was an outstanding trip. We did all the typical tourist things, and enjoyed every minute of our stay in SF and at The Handlery. I can't emphasize enough how perfectly located this hotel is. I would definitely go back.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

This hotel is centrally located not only to all the upscale shops, but more important, it is a short walk to all modes of transportation. All attractions are accessible via public transportation, and this city's public transportation system is great. If you have the time, take BART out to Berkeley and walk around. Beautiful campus, lots of interesting little shops.
