Horrible stay due to hotel strike

It was horrible because they were on strike. No room cleaning, no room service, noisy and disturbed early in the mornings due to the picketers. I think it would have been completely fine otherwise.

Very dissatisfied

The room was very small. Housekeeping did not provide enough towels and amenities (ie shampoos, toilet paper etc.) Never cleaned the room while we were there. They didn't replace towels etc. Never vacumed the room. VERY Disappointed.

Would not stay here again!

Our reservation was for a double room on the Concierge floor which of course we paid extra for. Upon check in they tried to put us in a "regular room" not on the Concierge Floor. I refused immediately. They then put us one floor above the private floor but with access to the Concierge. The room absolutely stunk and was dirty. We changed into our walking shoes went back down to the front desk and had a room change which was better. The next morning I realized I had left my very expensive shoes in our first room. The front desk called around with no luck in finding my shoes. And funny how they had not put anyone into that disgusting room and I'm sure my shoes did not just walk off. I will never stay in this hotel again. I do not recommend this hotel. The staff is rude, the hotel is not that nice and the area is now a bit run down as well.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Best part of the trip was a wonderful Italian restaurant called North Beach. It has been there 40 years. The food was the best I have ever had and the waiters and staff first class.

Grand Hyatt

Had to wait a few hours to get into the room, checked in well after 3PM. Nice view but the room really wasn't as nice as the Hilton or Parc 55. Had to wait long to get service in the lounge or to get the car from valet parking. Seemed very exspensive amd the quality of room service was poor. WI wouldn't stay again.

Great Location! But could use a facelift

THE HOTEL SURVICE WAS GREAT. TO BE HONEST I STAYED AT THE GRAND HYATT IN SAN DIEGO. NOW THATS A 5 STAR HOTEL. BUT OVERALL THE HOTEL WAS GREAT. GREAT STAFF, VERY CLEAN, AND ALL AROUND GOOD. DURING MY STAY I WAS TOLD THERE WAS GOING TO BE A REMODEL HAPPING SOON. MAYBE THEN IT WILL FEEL LIKE A 5 STAR HOTEL. BUT AS FOR NOW ITS A 5 STAR THAT FEELS LIKE A 3 STAR HOTEL.

Fair value

expected king size bed. settled for 2 singles. outside renovations made it difficult to recognize that the building is actually a hotel. u need to do a better job with super shuttle, was taken to hyatt regency instead of grand hyatt; inability to communicate in english a major factor. room was not cleaned and beds were not made in a timely manner

Nicely Redone Rooms

I had heard that the rooms were redone very recently. They seemed to be modern, and the beds were comfortable and had many switches for shades and lights right by the bedside. The highlight is the bar/restaurant on the 36th floor. Any guest has access and the views are fantastic.

36th floor bar/restaurant for breakfast or afternoon cocktails. Grab breakfast there in the morning instead of room service.

A pretty good stay

The hotel was clean and staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the air conditioning in our room was spotty (sometimes worked and sometimes didn't). We were offered a new room but didn't really want to move. The view was gorgeous; great location. For the price, however, breakfast should have been included.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Ask the hotel about airport shuttle service. We saved about $20 by taking the shuttle instead of a cab to the airport.
