VERY DISAPPOINTED

MY MAIN REQUIREMENT IN A HOTEL IS THAT IT HAS AIR CONDITIONING. THIS ONE WAS BROKEN. WE HAD TO OPEN THE WINDOW FOR AIR. THEN WE HAD TO DEAL WITH THE NOISE. THE BATHROOM HAD ONY A PEDISTAL SINK. NO PLACE TO DO MAKEUP OR HAIR. THERE WAS NO RUBBER MAT IN THE TUB. I SLIPPED. I TOLD 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE AT 3 DIFFERENT TIMES. NO ONE CARED. UPON CHECK OUT, I TOLD THEM THEY WERE PRIME TARGETS FOR A LAW SUIT IF SOMEONE FELL.(I KNOW,I AM A NURSE AND HAVE SEEM MANY OF THESE CASES IN THE OFFICE) STILL NO REACTION. THE ELEVATOR WAS SO SLOW, WE HAD TO TAKE THE STAIRS EVERY TIME. VERY DISAPPOINTING.........

Noisy Location - Unhappy

San Francisco, pretty city and pretty noisy, it seems, at night. There was a big construction going on across the street from our room, very noisy and it made it very difficult to sleep. The street noise is also considerable during the week (things beyond their control). The room: the bathroom fan was not working and after they 'fixed' it, it would only make noise and not extract any air from the bathroom. The shower curtain had that pink mold at the bottom. They "upgraded" us from a double bed room to a king+pull-out-sofa. This was done without our consent and before we even got there. This was a total DOWNGRADE. The staff seems friendly enough. I wouldn't stay here again.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If you are planning on getting on the cable cars, it is best to buy the Day Passport, which gives you a lot more flexibility and gives you access to all the MUNI modes of transportation. Important with so many people in the city and waiting times.

Central location, tiny accommodations

The hotel has a nice location, close to China Town and Union Square for shopping. However, the rooms are extremely small, one other guest compared them to a walk in closet! If you are positioned in a room facing the street, it is very noisy throughout the night. Window air conditioners are not very effective...For a single traveler, it would probably be fine...but for a family, you cannot walk past each other...someone has to move onto the bed or back up to let you pass.

Small rooms, great location, so so staff

I have stayed at better places in San Francisco with more attentive service. The wake up call wasn't done. When I asked them to hold my bags at check out, they gave me a claim check but then didn't place my bags in the holding room with other guests' bags. Instead I found it in the lobby behind a chair; the bellman hadn't bothered to secure it. Since it's a very nice, hard to replace leather bag....this seemed pretty sloppy. The daily wine hour and free architecture tour are nice touches though. Overall I think it's ok but I would choose someplace else the next time.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Take BART to and from the airport to the hotel. It's a two block walk from Montgomery Station. The hotel staff is telling folks to take a cab ($45) or Super Shuttle which makes multiple stops and is less comfortable than BART.

Galleria Park Hotel Union sq -Chinatown

This hotel has a great staff, my sheets were changed daily even when I did not request this service. The room was small but well laid out. The location is perfect 3 blocks from Union Sq. 1 block from China Town 1 block from Muni and the Bart. This is a very safe neighborhood but everything for a two-block radius closes by 9 pm. The hotel restaurant is expensive with decent food, good service and late hours. The only drawbacks were that there was a little mold in the shower area and the noise from the garbage trucks at night disturbed my sleep. These trucks run all night long. I was on the 5th floor and could hear the trucks, ambulances and some loud passersby's, however I am a very light sleeper. My daughter slept through everything.

"Standard hotel with a great ubication"

The hotel is the typical american hotel with nothing special, dark and no ventilated...The location is superb! Just two blocks away from Financial district. It has nothing to do with the "BOUTIQUE HOTELS" Mexicans are use to...We were expecting a real boutique hotel, not a Holiday Inn disguised, but it was OK.

SFO Hotel

Location was good. Staff was responsive. Hotel heating was poor. Room heat only from 3pm to 10pm, otherwise, the boiler was shut off. Lobby was always cold. Room was basic and ok but not great. Shower was the best part. Too much street noise in room. Sounded as if the window was open. Plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. Didn't eat at the hotel. The restaurant seemed more like a bar and breakfast wasn't available until 7am which is too late if you are still on eastern time. Short walk to the BART; great option to and from SFO
