Really check out the menu before going to any of the rest. Some look great but overcharge and you get very little for you money. Eating out was the biggest cost of the trip. Look for smaller and less tourist style places and you will be better off.

Horrible stay due to hotel strike

Great Location
Weekend Warrior Oct 28, 2009
The staff was the best, any question i ask they were prepared and gave simple and helpful hints. Recommend to eat at several ... cafes close by the Hotel is over priced for what you get on the food side. Monday AM they had buffet and it cost $57.00 (for 2) a limited selection, doesn't sound bad but it was too high. Clean rooms, great view (19th floor). Parking garage is great location for Hotel. We did all the sight seeing events and a wedding.

GRAND HYATT SAN FRANCISCO NIGHTMARE
"Dr. Bill" Oct 10, 2009
It qualifies as a 4-star hotel.Great room. Great room location=20th floor overlooking Union Square. Did not rent car in San ... Fran and glad- because I found out that GRAND HYATT charges $49.00 (!) per day to park your car ,Absolutely ridiculous. One scary event: 1 A.M....heard two female voises outside my door. Two young and drunk women leaning against my door. I asked them to please be quite,sleeping,etc.., One said I was "awful last night...threatened me...I told them I wasn't even there 'last night'....I called security and they came up and took care of it,but it was frightening.

Great location but small room/shower
doboy Sep 28, 2009
We had a room on the 12th floor with a great view of the city. The room was small with a very small bathroom and the shower ... had curtains which seemed pretty cheap. The bed was fantastic and there were plenty of plush pillows so we got great sleep. There were 6 elevators but I felt that they were a little slow. The location was fantastic as it was 1/2 block to all the shops and Union Square. We also ate at the Grandview Restaurant on the 36th floor which had a great view and the portions were decent size. I would stay here once again if I had to plan another shopping trip to SF.

great for us
Jeannie Sep 27, 2009
The only complaint we might have would be was when we checked in we were treated like lower class citizens, because we booked ... through Orbitz and told that all the king beds were gone and all they had were two doubles in a room. This was not a problem for us, although, a queen or king is what was requested, not double, it was the way it was presented. Everything else was great. We were there on business, but we also went to a Giants baseball game, and we went to dinner at O'Doul's and walked around Union Square. We have been to the city many times so it was just nice to get away for a few days.

Good value for the price and location.
Hiilani Sep 21, 2009
For the price during the time of year stayed, this hotel was a great value. Its location is excellent, within walking ... distance to everything in the Union Square area. The self-park arrangement between the hotel and the parking garage is excellent. The decor is beautiful and the views were great. In the future, I'd like to see more electrical outlets available for travelers with lots of items that need electricity. We had two adults traveling with the following (2 laptops, 2 cell phones, electric shaver, digital camera charger, 2 ipods), and finding available and easily accessible electrical outlets near the desk area was difficult because of the room's existing items that required outlets (e.g., tv, lamps, coffee pot). However, overall it was a great stay. Wish we had more time to stay longer.
Traveler type: Family
Take advantage of the hotel's central location in the Union Square area, as it is in close proximity (walking distance) to great shopping and dining, and easily walkable to farther shopping/dining locations north, south, east and west of the hotel. *****ATTENTION Hyatt Programming Staff: Need rating definitions for the Satisfaction Survey below. I made our reservation for the 22nd floor and was surprised when we checked in to find that our room was on the 31st floor ... with a spectacular view of downtown San Francisco and the bay. The hotel location was perfect for us with plenty of shopping and restaurants near by. We enjoyed our time at the Grand Hyatt very much and would definitely stay there again.

Park in Union Square Lot!!!!! $32 dollars for the night and very close... across the street! Valet appeared to be VERY SLOW! Just park once in a nearby parking garage. Then walk around and explore Union Square, Chinatown, and Little Italy. Don't drive to each neighborhood, since it is easier to park once and walk. You don't have to hassle finding a parking spot or driving in difficult streets.
