Fairmont San Francisco

This hotel represents the quality of old world elegance. Very well maintained hotel with large room, wardrobe and bath areas. Outside rooms have stunning views. We found the employees to be friendly and courteous. Located at the top of the hill.

Very elegant and historic hotel (one of the few buildings to survive the 1906 earthquake). Staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived early in the day and when this happens we usually have to wait until mid-afternoon to check in, and I hate this since you are usually tired from the trip. But upon our arrival they put us in a room immediately! The location of the hotel is great, it is across from Grace Cathedral (the offical cathedral of San Francisco, and is within walking distance to the Italian district, Chinatown and Fisherman's warf as well as Union Square. However, the hotel is on top of a hugh hill, and you will do alot of climbing! The restaurants in the hotel are expensive, but they have a great cocktail hour where you pay around 10 bucks for a buffet. The room was comfortable, not much of a view though, and although they said it was a Queen bed, I thought it was a little small.

Our room was a little small. Our view was not very good. However, The Fairmont is one of the "grand hotels" in the USA and just to stay here at a relatively reasonable price was well worth it. I thought $55/night for valet parking was higher than other downtown hotels. I've never paid more than $35!

The stay was first class from the moment I walked into the lobby to the moment I left. When in San Fran, I plan to stay at the Fairmont.

The old elegance and charm are sparkling in the entry way and lobby from the moment you walk up the short stairs on red carpet. Staff are friendly and helpful from doormen to bell captains and excellent strong coffee served very early in the morning in the lobby!

I was extremely pleased with the staffs all around professional attitude and goal to respond and assist me as a guest. The experience was a pleasant reminder of what great hotels were like in the past.

It was a very large room which was great, even though it seemed like they did not use up all the space they could have. In the bath room they could have added another table in the back corner by the window to add more sink space. Otherwise the bathroom was very clean and gorgeous. The bed was very comfortable and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I really enjoyed the walk in closet.

We love this Fairmont---have stayed here before--we were upgraded to a room in the tower--on 11 floor one night--the 20th floor the second night---then the 21st floor when we returned for another night!!!We are members of the president's club--it's free!!---Our view was of the bay---and the golden gate bridge---nice,large bathrooms---comfortable beds---and for the price we had--I LOVE good deals!!-and we loved the bar for night caps!

My wife and I celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary by staying at the Fairmont. We live in the East Bay, accross the bay from San Francisco, so we have visited "the city by the bay" many times and it has been our dream to stay at the historical Fairmont Hotel. We were not disappointed! The entire staff were so helpful. They made our anniversary getaway an event to remember.

I have never been very fond of the business hotels in which I have stayed in San Francisco. This classic old hotel has been updated, was wonderfully comfortable and located on Nob Hill rather than in the more commercial financial district or Union Square areas. We easily walked and cabbed to dinner, the theatre and some traditional tourist locations. It was really just a lovely stay.
