The Chancellor Hotel on Union Square is a charming 137 hotel located in the heart of San Francisco. Since 1914, it is still a classic boutique hotel serving guest who want to be surrounded by world class shopping, restaurants, and theatres at a good value. When you aren't shopping, dining, just step out of our lobby and ride the Powell Street Cable car past Chinatown, over nob hill, and by Lombard Street to Fisherman's Wharf. At Fisherman's Wharf, boats depart for Alcatraz Island, Sausalito, and Tiburon for some great sightseeing. The Business traveler will also find great value in our hotel because of its short walk to the Moscone Convention Center, free local calls, two line phones with data ports and the Chancellor Hotel's Clipper Ship meeting room. Every room, including the two room suites, are decorated in a classic European motif, and contains the amenities that our guests have come to expect. Additionally, the entire is completely non-smoking for your comfort. Wired or WirelesWe have what you need. The Lobby, Bar, Dining room, and Meeting Room have a free Wi-Fi signal available. Luques Restaurant & Bar, located just off the lobby of the hotel, offers breakfast, lunch, and room service. The menu features California Cuisine. The Bar is warm and approachable, featuring specialty cocktails, local draft, bottled beer and a pleasing and diverse wine list emphasizing the best that California has to offer.

Amazing First SF Trip

We loved our stay at the Chancellor. We stayed for two nights in November and really enjoyed our experience. Parking was easy, staff was friendly and gave us directions to some our destinations and asked if they could help us make any reservations. The room was small, but we had a great view of the street and the decor was very nice. The location of this hotel could not be better and the cost was more than reasonable. We would definitely stay again!

Great Location and Great Price!

Great location! Great value! Smaller sized rooms, but it did not bother us we spent so little time in rooms. Staff is wonderful! Free apples and cookies in lobby! Great bar! Would stay again. Walking distance to the federal building.

Awesome

The best value hotel in San Francisco. If you are on a budget this is great place. The best location! We could walk everywhere. Some places we took the public transportation which was very close bus, BART. Kind of small room (your in San Francisco how much time are you really going to spend in the room)! No air conditioning which did not bother me, but they brought us a fan for my wife. Great bar and bar tender in the lobby. Free cookies, apples, and water in the lobby. Encountered about 20 different staff members all very friendly and great customer service! When I go back we will stay again. If you are going I recommend staying. Tight/small stairs and small elevator did not bother me, might bother others.

Great location, small but room is well appointed

I was apprehensive about this hotel since it was a last minute reservation with surrounding hotel prices being high this particular weekend. The entrance felt ominous and the lobby wasn't much better. After going up a tiny elevator and walking through a narrow hallways, I was surprised to find a warm and inviting room that was well appointed. I had a corner room with a bathroom awkwardly positioned in the room, and view of the building next door. Bed was large and comfortable but considering my size (5'2" and 100 pnds) it would have to be a really old thin mattress for me to be uncomfortable. For my needs, a comfortable, clean, and attractive room with a late check-out of 2pm was all I needed and this fit the bill. If you're looking for a room with a view, this certainly is not it. It's not luxurious but still nice and a great location at the heart of Union Square. The negatives would be that this hotel doesn't have room service. There is a conveniently located Walgreens on the corner of the street just a few 100 yards away. Though I would consider other hotels for the $200 a night price tag, I would take this hotel again at a cheaper price and if my needs were again the same.

Great location

The hotel is in the perfect spot. So close to Union Square, but just far enough from Market Street so it is pretty quiet at night. The beds are so comfortable and the rooms are clean and modern.

Great location and service. Staff friendly.

I was in SF to meet family, travelling from NY. Although the room was small, it was very clean and had everything I needed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location to Union Square for shopping, the Wharf and the Italian restaurant area (a short taxi ride if you are tired of walking the hills of SF) made it a really good hotel.

This hotel was old. The lobby was updated, but the rooms were run down and very small. Expensive for what you get.
