Victorian style, family atmosphere and free breakfast near Union Square
Comfort, hospitality and convenience are plentiful at the Hotel Beresford, a quaint family-owned hotel blocks from the action of San Francisco's Union Square. From the street, the Victorian-style building looks like an apartment complex. Inside, however, cozy touches such as tufted chairs and whitewashed wood present a down-home feel. This feeling extends to the White Horse Tavern, the on-site restaurant, where pints outnumber flutes and the jukebox is always on.
Highlights
- Knowledgeable staff
- Walking distance to Union Square, Chinatown and City Hall
- On-site tavern is a replica of an old English pub
- Refrigerated honor bars in every room

Efficiency trumps luxury at the Beresford. All of the property's 114 rooms come standard with private bathrooms, refrigerated honor bars and satellite television. Pets are welcome (fees apply).

All guests receive complimentary continental breakfast daily, as well as access to a public Internet terminal in the lobby.

A place to sleep.
This hotel has a great location near Union Square. The rooms are clean and basic. Overall...not bad for the $89 we paid for one night. The staff was indifferent and not very friendly. The honor bar was the most reasonably priced that I have ever seen. That was refreshing for a change. The hotel offers a valet parking service, but plan ahead when you want your vehicle back. It took 20 minutes. The hotel vending machine was broken and empty. If you need a reasonably priced, no frills place to stay, this hotel is ok. There are many other hotels close by, so my recommendation is to shop around.

Could have been better if the room was bigger, more comfortable. Disappointed with the free breakfast buffet and the parking fees.

Ok Hotel, NO internte in room
The hotel was ok, in general staff was attentive, specially a nice gentleman with gray hair that received us the first night. May main complaint is that the website announces free wireless internet, what they fail to express is that it only covers a tiny room, not rooms (which created a big inconvenience for me). Also, they failed to tell us that parking and valet parking were charged separately for a SIGNIFICANT extra cost.

Great location
Good location, took the Bart from the airport and it was about a 5 block walk to hotel (uphill), easy going back. The cable car was only 2 blocks away. Easier to walk down where to get on cable car as going to Fisherman wharf the car was usually already full.
