Victorian style, family atmosphere and free breakfast near Union Square
Comfort, hospitality and convenience are plentiful at the Hotel Beresford, a quaint family-owned hotel blocks from the action of San Francisco's Union Square. From the street, the Victorian-style building looks like an apartment complex. Inside, however, cozy touches such as tufted chairs and whitewashed wood present a down-home feel. This feeling extends to the White Horse Tavern, the on-site restaurant, where pints outnumber flutes and the jukebox is always on.

Nice for city visit
descent hotel with perfect location. It is close to the downtown, China Town and most of the attractiona like Wharf, Golden Gate or park are in close distance. The rooms are small and descent condition. Wifi only available on the first floor, no cabl econnection in the rooms. Breakfast is minimal, some bakery stuff, but it is nice. The value for the price is excellent, it is a cheap hotel with descent service and perfect location. Perfect for city visit for couple of days.

To rent a bicycle in SF is an excellent idea. Visit the Golden Gate recreational Area, ride along the Wharf, ride in the city is perfect time to spend time. There are nice bike rentals in the city everywhere with nice predefined routes. Mybe it is not cheap, but for sure worth for the money.

how lucky can one get?
i was in san fran to attend the dan reid bagpipe competition held at the marines hotel and the price there was rediculous for overnoc stay. beresford was right next store, at 1/3 the cost..how can i go wrong and the bulk of the weekend festivities hung out in the pub in beresford...

so so hotel
wireless internet is only supplied at lobby. staff is not friendly and has accent hard to be understood. printing is expensive.

A little gem in the heart of San
A little gem in the heart of San Francisco. Room was a little small but quite adequate. Super location, friendly staff, easy valet parking - just what was needed. Highly recommend as hotels charging far more in the same location would not be able to provide any substantial improvement in facilities or service.

Comfortable & Decent For Older Hotel
Nice older hotel, with restaurant & bar. 1.5 blocks from cable car stop. 10 blocks from Moscone Center. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Rooms are small (especially in the front center), clean and acceptably maintained... some renovations being performed on the first floor. No in-room WiFi, WiFi is available near the front desk and guest lounge. No on-site parking, but off-site valet and nearby public parking is available. Accessibility: Two short but wide steps at the entrance, and a sloped step from the lobby to the hallway & elevator W/C users may need assist depending on level. Did not see Braille marks on elevator. Hallways and doors are narrow. If your disability level requires better access, ask about their sister hotel... the Beresford Arms two blocks away (both hotels are older, so not built to ADA but they are trying).

1.5 blocks away (at Powell & Sutter) is a Walgreen's Drugstore where you can purchase 1 & 3 day passes for the local buses, cable cars, etc. (excluding BART). This is the same corner with a cable car stop. Union Square, Powell & Market street, and Moscone Center are to the south (down the hill); Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square are to the north (up & over the hill)... take the cable car (it's a long walk to those places).

Great location, great price, clean
This hotel is remodeling its rooms. The room was clean, the bathroom was small-so what. The price was a bargain. The only problem was the length of time it took to have our valet parked car brought back to us.

Friendly, small, unbeatable location for
A great location.An easy walk to Union Square, theatres, shops, Chinatown & nob hill!!!! Small rooms but clean & friendly staff. A small continental breakfast provided. I do return to this hotel when in San Francisco.

Good hotel with value
This hotel is central to many attractions. Union Square and Chinatown are within walking distance. The Ferry Building is about 1/2 hour walk away. BART, buses, and cable car @ Powell & Market Sts. are also close by.Room was decent and clean. Room has more square footage than another hotel I stayed at within Union Square at that price level. One front desk person can be pushy about selling you tours even if you don't need it.The bar/restaurant is designed like an English tavern so it can get roudy on a Saturday night. Only one internet terminal so you may have to wait your turn to use it. No wi-fi within the rooms.Valet parking is $30/night[...]

Plenty of choices to shop within the hotel area. Macy's and other stores within six minute walk. If you're from out of town and shopping @ Macy's: go to the customer service area; show your id; and ask for a discount pass. Art galleries are on Geary St. so one can browse around.
