Victorian style, family atmosphere and free breakfast near Union Square
Comfort, hospitality and convenience are plentiful at the Hotel Beresford, a quaint family-owned hotel blocks from the action of San Francisco's Union Square. From the street, the Victorian-style building looks like an apartment complex. Inside, however, cozy touches such as tufted chairs and whitewashed wood present a down-home feel. This feeling extends to the White Horse Tavern, the on-site restaurant, where pints outnumber flutes and the jukebox is always on.

The Economical Place to Stay
It was just fine; centrally located; clean; quiet; no AC but in San Francisco you don't need it. Really a wonderful bargain. I'd easily go back.

Best value for your buck
I travel almost once a month to San Francisco. I have stayed in lot of hotels in downtown and I found this hotel to be best considering location and price.

Great, friendly, centrally located hotel
Very friendly staff, in a small intimate hotel. Spacious room and quiet. Clean. Lots of travelers visiting SF. Good wireless service, but was off one night. Very centrally located. We walked to almost everything. Good neighborhood with lots of neat restaurants. Close to cable cars and on the taxi and bus runs. Definitely stay there again. White horse pub is next door for comp breakfast and drinks in the evening.

L'Ottavo Italian is just across the street as is Sankara Japanese food. We ate at foreign restaurants of which all except two were within walking distance.Our favorite French is Cafe Mozart just 2 blocks away on Bush

Good location!
We attended a private party at Ruby Skye on 7/28/09 and decided to stay at Beresford instead of driving home after the party. The room was small but clean. We got Room 516, which was at the back of the hotel and quiet. We had a pleasant stay. The restaurant was still closed when we stayed there. We left our small luggage at the hotel after we checked out the next day while we did touristy thing in SF the next day (riding the cable car, visiting the sea lions at Pier 39, etc.) We picked up our luggage at 5 pm and took BART home to Fremont. Overal a nice and convenient hotel and we'll definitely stay there again.

Laid back environment, good breakfast
The staff was friendly and helpful, location was great, the rooms were comfortable, and for the price it's really a good deal. The breakfast was simple but good. I would come back to this place any time.

Great times, great location
If you're looking for a 4 star hotel with all of the ammenities, this is not the spot for you. The rooms are small, and very out of date, but clean. It was a great launching pad, however, for all of our San Fran adventures. The staff is friendly and the White Horse Pub (downstairs) is the perfect place for a pint or Irish coffee at the end of the day. It is a local hang-out as well, so it's the place for insider advice!

a very good hotel, pleasant stay
We very much enjoyed out stay at the Beresford. The staff is friendly, informative and ready to help at all times. The room was clean and pleasant. Additionally, the price for the room was reasonable and appreciated, considering the less than robust economic climate. Lastly, the hotel is well situated downtown;this greatly facilitated getting around the city. We would absolutely stay at the Beresford again, and unhesitatingly recommend it to other travelers.

unbeatable location for the price
We took in a gift show. The location was great to use public transit, good restaurants in the same block and helpful staff.

nice laste minute getaway
Great location, close to Union Square and easy to reach. Only thing I missed was wireless in rooms.
