Victorian style, family atmosphere and free breakfast near Union Square
Comfort, hospitality and convenience are plentiful at the Hotel Beresford, a quaint family-owned hotel blocks from the action of San Francisco's Union Square. From the street, the Victorian-style building looks like an apartment complex. Inside, however, cozy touches such as tufted chairs and whitewashed wood present a down-home feel. This feeling extends to the White Horse Tavern, the on-site restaurant, where pints outnumber flutes and the jukebox is always on.
Highlights
- Knowledgeable staff
- Walking distance to Union Square, Chinatown and City Hall
- On-site tavern is a replica of an old English pub
- Refrigerated honor bars in every room
Rooms
Efficiency trumps luxury at the Beresford. All of the property's 114 rooms come standard with private bathrooms, refrigerated honor bars and satellite television. Pets are welcome (fees apply).

All guests receive complimentary continental breakfast daily, as well as access to a public Internet terminal in the lobby.

Perfect value for money
The Beresford hotel is very reasonably priced for the very central location it has and the complimentary services it offers (such as free breakfast, pcs at disposal with free printing, et cetera).

Stay near Union Sq on a budget
The Beresford is a nice although slightly dated place in a great location with fair rates. Our first room was on the back of the building and it was too noisy from some motors outside the windows. So we requested a different room and the hotel staff was very agreeable about making this change. Our new room was much quieter, the bed was comfortable and had everything we needed. The housekeeper was very prompt each morning and left the room neat and tidy. The continental breakfast included fresh fruit and coffee and we could get our day started there. There's a small pub adjacent to the lobby that was very charming. We had a cocktail there every evening along with the complimentary snacks. Overall the Beresford may be a little dated but it has a European charm. We felt very safe there. Be aware there is no A/C in the room so I would not stay here during warm weather.

Hotel Beresford
It was very central to downtown San Francisco. The hotel was clean and staff were pleasant. The complimentary breakfast was nothing special, but at least it was morning coffee. Very satisfying experience and you couldn't beat the value.

Classes at the Westin
I was very happy with the kind consideration by the staff, location great, and everything was neat and clean. Unfortunately, I was put next to the elevator and heard that going by, but it dropped off as the night went on and was not a big problem. Excellent hotel and stay, but I don't think it would hurt them to have a hair dryer in each room.

Good quick place to stay in SF for the night
I liked it, not like the Marriott, but it was still not bad. Wifi only in lobby. And I thought the room was tiny with no view outside basically a wall. But besides that it was fun.
