nice lobby, horrid bed

Old, saggy beds and pillows. Dated bathroom - poor vinyl floor and tacky vanity.

Location at a great price

Nice hotel in a good location. Valet parking at $24 per night with in and out. Hard to beat, although it took almost a half hour to get our car when we requested it. Friendly and accommodating staff. Rooms are small but comfortable. We left the window open and the pigeons were very noisy in the morning. Would definitely stay here again, but ask for our car long before we need it.

Very pleasant

We had been recommended to this hotel 20 years ago and had never stayed. Great for our teenagers because of the kitchen and corner market across the street. My only complaints...coffeemaker but no filters...jacuzzi tub did not work...tv was small and not visible to both beds. A bit of street revelry with art college dorms close by.

Good location, friendy staff

We were able to check in early and were upgraded to a larger room with a kitchenette and jacuzzi bathtub. The lobby was lovely with wine or tea offered free in the afternoon.

Very goog localization, walking

Very goog localization, walking distance to the Union Square. It`s an old hotel, but the room is big, and has breakfast included. Not so quiet....you can here the street noise..... but nothing that you can`t sleep. I would come back here because of the localization and price!

I would stay again

This hotel has an old style charm, large clean rooms. We stayed in a 2 person suite which included jets in the tub and small kitchen area. The room was spacious. It was just a few blocks from Union Square so it was easy to get around San Francisco. I would stay here again. It was very reasonably priced. Staff was nice. They provided coffee, tea and some pastry in the morning and wine, cheese and crackers in the evening. Very nice lobby area.

Comfortable and convenient

The hotel is centrally located near Union Square, the cable car, and the Theatre District. The valet parking was a bargain at $25 and we did not have to wait (we had a Friday, late morning departure). We had a room on the 7th floor. It was large, 2 queens, a double sink bathroom and kitchenette. It is older and not fancy but comfortable and clean. The clientele was a nice mix of families, small groups and mid aged couples. The staff was helpful and the service was good. There is a large comfortable lobby that also serves as their complimentary wine and cheese area, in the late afternoon, and the continental breakfast in the morning.

Excellent quality for the price

The hotel room was spacious - like a mini-studio with a kitchenette (that was unexpected!). The room was clean, although the sirens heard few times indicated the single panel windows may need to be upgraded (probably nearby fire station). The staff is *extremely* nice. For the price, the location and experience were great!
