TERRIBLE service and fasly advertised!

My husband and I arrived at the hotel parking in front in the (designated) valet area. As I went inside to check in, the valet ran up to my husband and in broken english said if we didn't move our car immediatley it would be towed! The front desk attended was discourtious and was of no help. We ended up parking in a near by garage! Later we went down to the "Wine Reception" at 5:00 which was a joke. It consisted of 2 caraf's of the world's worst wine! with old cheese and grapes, while the front desk associate monitored you! If you want a nice stay and nice wine reception...go to the Tuscan Inn by the Warf. It's also a Best Western and they people there were great. The only upside to "Hotel California" is that they were very close to Union Square and the rooms were very old but very clean.

Skip This!

Very disappointed in my recent stay while in town for a nearby conference. The staff at this hotel is thoroughly unprofessional. The gentleman at the desk with dark hair was consistently rude and refused to provide a receipt for my stay at check out, claiming that he did not do that for "___ (online site) customers." He also would not provide proof of my deposit/refund of the $50 required at check-in. My room on the 7th floor was incredibly loud. There is an outdoor restaurant/bar below the hotel that was very noisy until 2am everyday. There was also a lot of street noise (sirens, cars, etc) coming in all night. I could also hear my neighbors' conversations. This is not a place to get any rest, apparently - the walls and windows are paper thin. Will not be returning to this hotel ever. That being said, the restaurant inside the hotel, Millennium, is quite good. So dine but don't stay here!

Not at all what I thought....

We stayed here for three days as part of a West Coast family vacation. Walked into the hotel and it smelled like a urinal. I rented three rooms. The rooms were ok for sleeping although bedding smelled musty. The TV in one of the rooms was broken and they said they couldn't fix it until the afternoon of the next day so moved them to a smaller room. None of the rooms had a flat screen TV like they show in their advertisement. There wasn't any 'shot of tequila' on arrival. In fact, the guy at the desk was less than enthusiastic that we were even there. NOT AT ALL WORTH THE MONEY! Looked at the Hotel Diva down the street and it was cheaper, closer to Union Station and much nicer. But, because of CheapTickets policy, our stay was non-refundable. Extremely disappointed with the hotel and the CheapTickets policy which kept us trapped in this place.

....Could be more lovely

The location of this hotel is fine, a few blocks to Union Square a bit further to China town and not far from the cable car and bus lines. We saw most major attactions and utilized bus, cable car and taxis. Our room was adequate, it was close to the elevator and I thought it would be very noisy, but it was not and we slept through the night. Complaints...The bed had a "sink hole" in the middle. The ceiling fan squeaked and looked like it would spin right out of the ceiling and the WiFi did not work anywhere but in the lobby or mezzanine level of the hotel. Breakfast was...adequate. It bothered me a LOT that they just don't get another waffle iron. The one used has a can of Pam next to it, but every single person I watched had to pry their waffle out of the maker in pieces! If they were using their fingers, the staff would hand customers a knife to assist in prying out the waffles...get another one! Having an airport shuttle would be very nice, the $50 cab ride to and from the airport was not so great. We really enjoyed the PineCrest cafe for lunch and breakfast...YUM! We tried to eat at Max's which appeared awesome from the outside, but service was slow and servers took a long time to acknowldege us so we left and found the PineCrest...which was packed but had immediate super service with super food!

Meh

I stayed here with my husband while he was on a business trip. The location was good, and the staff were as expected. However the room was very small, and the bathroom not very clean. The fixtures were coming away from the wall, there was mold in the grout and there was a layer of dust in the window. I had read on the sight that if you wanted a mini fridge that you could ask for one to be brought up to your room. When we asked at check-in we were told that they were only for people staying in the suites/ premium rooms. On our last day we had a knock at our room door from housekeeping. It was 9:30am and we had just gotten back from breakfast. I guess it was just a 'reminder' that we had to check out, and to find out what time we would be leaving so they could some in and clean. I don't think that we will stay here again. I am willing to pay a little more for a better experience.

It was a little bang for the buck

I decided to suprise my husband with a suprise trip to San Francisco for Father's Day weekend. When we arrived at our hotel the clerk was very nice and funny. The shot of tequilla wasn't bad either. The hotel was in a very good location. We were able to walk to all the hot spots of The City. The only complaint that i had was that our room was way too small, but it was still a good stay!

The beds are cozy and great location

Great location. It was a few blocks away from Union Square. We were able to take a cable car to Fishermans wharf from union square. Friendly service at the hotel. The rooms are small but have character. It was a bit noisy do to the hotel being in the city. No air conditioning got a little stuffy in room. We just kept windows open all the time. Complementary wine and cheese happy hour was nice.
