The William Penn Suites is located in the heart of the vibrant Gaslamp Quarter of downtown San Diego. Now reopened and tastefully decorated as 1 bedroom guest rooms with rich colors in the rugs, unique heavy furnishings and warm tones on the walls are welcoming; many guest rooms have city views and skylights. We are certain that you will find the location and accommodations of the William Penn Hotel perfect for your vacation or convention visit, a place you are happy to call your home away from home.
The Gaslamp Quarter is the most well known area of downtown San Diego and is home to nearly 100 restaurants, coffee houses and nightclubs. Additionally, there are almost 100 unique shops and galleries all in walking distance of the William Penn Suites.
Intertwined with the Downtown landscape are the sprawling 1400 acre Balboa Park with its 15 museums, four theaters and the World Famous San Diego Zoo. Nestled on the bay is Sea Port Village featuring 75 shops, four restaurants and miles of cobblestone pathways around ponds, lakes, fountains and a quarter mile of Boardwalk.
Downtown and the Gaslamp have something to offer everyone. Some of the major attractions include Petco Park - Home of the Padres, Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego Civic Center Theater, Horton Plaza Shopping Center, Little Italy and the San Diego Convention Center.
We are only 7 minutes from Lindberg Field. A Short Trolley Ride to Old Town, Mission Valley, SeaPort Village & Petco Park. Only 12 miles south of La Jolla and just across the bay from Coronado.

Cool hotel!

Really cool hotel. The elevator is super old school and the rooms are huge. Wish we would have planned ahead more and brought more of our own food so we could take advantage of the kitchen. Didn't feel like a hotel room at all, it felt like we rented an apartment for the night! Only negative might be that you can hear loud music at night from one of the bars below...lasts until about 2am. That didn't bother us at all, since we were up at that hour anyway, but those sensitive to noise would most likely have a problem with that. The hotel is super close to everything, it's a great location! We especially liked the fact that there weren't tons of hotel staff hovering around trying to cater to our every need. We like to be left alone and do our own thing, so this hotel was pretty much perfect for us.

VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER

Arrived in San Diego @ 8:30 pm only to find out my reservation (that was paid for 5 days previous) was not being honored. I was stuck in San Diego on Labor Day weekend with no hotel.

Great location and large suites

Was attending a convention at the convention center in San Diego, which was about a 10 minute walk from the William Penn Hotel. The hotel was close to many bars and restaurants. The suites are large, clean, modern, and convenient.

The william Penn Hotel - No Sleep Tonigh

The room was great. We were having a great time until it was bed time (about 10:30PM). The hotel is backed up against one of the loudest dance places I've even heard! The music finally stopped at about 2:00AM. Not what I was expecting.

Unbeatable location for the price

The hotel was really great this is my 2nd time staying there and it was just as good as the 1st time. The rooms are really big and clean for the price. I would definitely stay there again.
