Located in Mission Valley, the circa 1953 Town & Country Resort Hotel is the largest privately owned resort and convention center in San Diego. The property combines the very best attributes of two worlds. On one hand, it is located a brief trolley-ride from the restaurants, shopping and attractions in downtown San Diego. On the other hand, it is surrounded by picturesque open space adjacent to a 27-hole golf course. The resort boasts a day spa and outdoor pool complex to maximize relaxation. Two on-site restaurants serve many types of cuisine.

Rooms

Town & Country Resort Hotel features 970 rooms, including more than 40 suites that vary in size and configuration, comprising two towers and a host of garden bungalows. Each room comes standard with a flat-screen TV, hair dryer, ironing board and in-room safe. Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access are available (fees apply).

Property features

The Town & Country Resort Hotel opened with great fanfare in 1953 and has been independently owned and operated ever since.

Today, all guests receive complimentary access to a pool complex that features three pools, as well as a modest on-site fitness center. The Bella Tosca Day Spa offers a variety of treatments seven days a week (fees apply). The hotel sits next to the 27-hole Riverwalk Golf Course and near many walking and jogging paths.

Two on-site restaurants serve very different types of cuisine. At Trellises Garden Grille, dishes are prepared in French and Californian style. Kelly's Steakhouse is a more traditional meat-and-potatoes type of place.

Highlights
  • Golf 27 holes at the neighboring Riverwalk Golf Course
  • Arrange massage treatments through the Bella Tosca Day Spa
  • On-property trolley stop for easy access into San Diego
  • Two on-site restaurants

Convention Center Convenient But Not Wonderful

My room was in the bungalows with garden view. It was cozy and comfortable, and although it was close to my conference, there was little in the way of pampering from staff or room service. I asked for room service and they were an hour past time promised. I asked for a late checkout and for a bellman to pick up my bags, but they refused to pick up the bags. Breakfast was inconveniently located and with three pools, there was just one remote jacuzzi. I booked a massage in the spa, but they wouldn't give me the hotel guest discount because I was already checked out. Give a little, Town & Country.

Very confusing layout and very noisy

Staff was nice. Maybe better for a family experience but for someone looking for a good night's sleep forget it. Walls were paper thin and could hear everything in the next room. By the time you pay for the room, resort fees, taxes, parking, etc. it was not a place that I would stay at again.

a nice getaway

although it wasn't smack dab in the middle of comic con, it was a blessing in disguise for sure. A great place to come back to for peace and quite away from the crowds at con. With non stop buses, taxis and the trolley across the street it was very easy to get from point A to B.

Terrific stay

The staff were extremely helpful and courteous. The reasons I stayed here was because of the wonderful experiences I had on my last stay at this hotel. I strongly recommend this hotel as a place for others to stay. I will definetly stay here on my next visit to SanDiego.

Graduation trip

I don't think we should have to pay for parking and with conventions going on it is hard to even find a parking place. If two are traveling and both have cars it gets expensive to pay for both. The restaurants are ok. The location is the best easy on and off freeway. Close to a lot of San Diego attractions.

Bad

They have a pub that was next to my room a well as an ice maker right next to my door. I had a half marathon the next day and I didn't sleep the whole night. I called the front desk that night and nothing happened. I had to be up at 3:45 am for this run and had to do it in the heat and no sleep it was the worst stay I ever encountered at a hotel. The manager said he was going to contact you to your company know they were going to comp my room. Let's hope this is the case.

Good price - Nice & relaxing

The grounds are beautiful. The adult pool is very nice. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is also very nice with the notable exception of some of the girls at the front desk. I've stayed here many times and there are quite a few very rude people working at the check in desk. Not sure how this happens because everyone else is amazing. Overall, a good time.

Be careful parking at the beach areas. You could get a ticket if you park and don't see the time limit signs.

Nothing special. Room decor was old nad felt kind of dirty. Cleanliness wasn't great. Nice pool area though. Additional fees for room service were a joke.
