On the beach, but expensive!

Rooms were a bit small. No real table seating for in room dining. Bathroom lighting not very addiquate. No pricing on menues, found out meals are VERY expensive. Beds were comfortable, friendly staff. Great ocean view from main deck, but you don't want to rent a room facing deck because of noice and traffic. Found people there not registered at hotel. Address is on beach walkway, so if taking any shuttles or cabs you need to check with hotel first to get directions for drivers.

Very nice, right on the boardwalk

We stayed one night to meet friends and celebrate a birthday. We had a great meal and had drinks around the upstairs firepit. The sunset was great.

our first trip to San Diego

The staff provided excellent service. The room was nice. The restaurant is pricey but the food is good. Thellocation is great. There is plenty to do on the boardwalk and the tourist attractions are all 20 mins away. Overall a great place to stay.

GREAT LOCATION/VIEW

Overall hotel was great. Beautiful view... especially loved the 2nd floor terrace for hotel guests. The hotel has a nice restaurant (expensive but delicious).. and also located to some good fast food spots and bars. One negative... we were basically kicked out of our room right at checkout (like right on the minute). The guy was literally knocking at our door and waiting for us to pack up our stuff and leave. Other than that.. great experience.

great location!

i loved the location because the hotel was right on the beach. the staff was very friendly. when we arrived at our room, it was dirty, but the staff acknowledged the problem right away and put us in a new, upgraded room, and gave us another round of complimentary cocktails. i also loved the balcony and outdoor seating area overlooking the beach. it's not a very big hotel, so there weren't many amenities (ie. jacuzzi, gym)

Exactly what we were looking for!

We were looking for a nice place on the beach and Tower 23 was right on the boardwalk. Even though our room was considered a partial ocean view we could sit on the patio of the room and have a perfect view. The hotel deck was great. The chairs were comfortable, the service was friendly and extensive, and the heaters at night created a warm, comfortable environment. We ate at the restaurant one night and had a first class meal -- the fish was excellent! Although we spent our days away from the hotel, we returned to a clean room with stocked mini-bar.

JRND restaurant in the hotel was very nice but there were also numerous places to dine within a very short distance of the hotel offering a wide variety of prices and types of food.

Great experience... but overpriced

Good quality, small, boutique hotel with a minimalist design and friendly staff. The restaurant and terrace are great and the location is good for going out in Pacific Beach and the ocean is thirty seconds away. The rooms were too expensive however.

Awesome View, But Got Lucky

We were in a Surf Pad, specifically Room 320, at the very end of a long corridor on the top floor, southern part of the hotel's U-shape. Has to be the best view in the house IMO. The two surf pads next to us had views partially blocked by palm trees. Location in the hotel was a pro and con... walk to room was a bit long, but things were quiet with the lack of people moving by, $20 per night valet parking, tax included, with full in-out priviliges. Grocery store right next door. Easy to find, fairly convenient to most of what we wanted to do out in San Diego. Maintenance was very prompt when we reported a problem with our A/C interlock switch that was hooked up to the sliding door (no A/C if the door is open, but that's fine seeing as the ocean is a football field away). Free X-Box and game rental, though game selection was limited. Just remember to ask the front desk for it if you want. We played and watched a couple movies with it. Mini-bar is excessively priced, with less-than-can-sized mixers costing $4 a bottle, and the alcohol just silly expensive. Easier to head to the convenient stores around and bring in your own. On-site restaurant pretty expensive. Had 2 appetizers, 2 alcoholic drinks and a virgin drink... ran over $50 with tip. Overall, nice and clean. Amazing location that's hard to miss, and if you pay the premium price, you'll get a great view of the Pacific.

Wonderful location and staff

Very attentive staff and fabulous location RIGHT on Pacific Beach just north of the Crystal Pier. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. I rented a bike from Pure Life ($10/day for three days) and rode around Mission Bay and up to La Jolla. Great bike paths!

World Famous - a Pacific Beach institution for 30+ years, still serves the best meals on the beach. In addition Kono's at the entry to Crystal Pier serves enormous breakfasts for very cheap!

Wonderful Stay

I had a great time at Tower 23. The staff was very attentive and the location was perfect - great beach location. The rooms were very comfortable with a radio to use with my Ipod and the food at JRDN is spectacular. The Good Morning Sunshine breakfast was delicious [...]. The restaurant has an uber cool feeling and if you don't want to spend so much (I had soup and salad though and worth it for sure) you can go to Gringos an excellent Mexican place a block away. The only drawback is they don't have a pool, but it is a little chilly for a pool in springtime anyway and the beach is right there so.... Love Pacific Beach and will stay there again when returning to San Diego.
