Iconic stay brings luxury to downtown

The spectacular crystalline design of The Westin San Diego is a signature landmark in the city's skyline. A 100-foot atrium lobby welcomes guests to the iconic property. The hotel is within walking distance to all of San Diego's most popular attractions. On site, guests enjoy an outdoor heated pool, a signature Westin Workout Gym and more. Coast restaurant serves contemporary cuisine in a casual and relaxed setting.

Highlights
  • Terrific location in the heart of downtown
  • Swim and relax in the heated outdoor pool
  • An iconic building in the city skyline
Rooms

The Westin San Diego offers 436 rooms, including more than 30 suites with mind-bending views of the city and San Diego Bay. Each room comes standard with a flat-screen TV, the signature Westin Heavenly Bed, the signature Westin Heavenly Bath, make-up mirrors and in-room safes. Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access are available (fees apply). Pets are welcome (fees apply).

Features

The Westin San Diego received AAA's four diamond award, but the property is best-known for its silhouette--the crystalline profile is one of the most recognizable buildings in the city's skyline.

All guests of the hotel receive complimentary access to the 24-hour Westin Workout Gym. The heated outdoor pool sits on a rooftop deck named Harbor Deck. Fittingly, Harbor Deck offers sweeping views of San Diego Bay. The property offers in-room spa treatments (fees apply) and provides 24-hour laundry service (fees apply).

The menu at the on-site restaurant, Coast, is casual and contemporary, much like the eatery's decor. A coffee shop (The Aroma Caf) and bar (The Bar) are also open to guests at certain times of day.

not gaslamp hotel

Liked the hotel but Jackhammers were constant saturday and sunday. Advertized as gaslamp but was 1/2 mile from the real district. breakfast was awesome and expensive. bar was a cubby hole. Housekeeping came in the room at 8:20 am day of departure and asked if we were checking out.

Great room; thin walls

Very nice hotel. But, Currently under construction with only 50% of the elevators operating. Very comfortable bed; great outdoor pool & hot tub! Only complaint--connector door between rooms does not offer sufficient sound barrier. Could clearly hear neighbors conversations, and late-night "party" noise was over the top! It took three calls to front desk & three visits from security to resolve the problem.

Very comfortable, but not too convenient

Perfect for those who is in business trips, i.e. for everybody whose trip is paid for : nice location, stylish building, comfortable rooms, pool, gym. Or if you don't care about $32 valet parking only, no breakfast, no microwave in room, extra charge for internet then you definitely will be happy.

Excellent hotel!!

Great. Loved the glass elevators and giant window with a harbor view in the room. Extremely comfortable beds. Staff was helpful and curteous. Only problem was internet access. Even after paying for "premium" it was super slow. My only complaint.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

24 hour parking lot for $16 only about 10 min walk. Beware valet at hotel is $36 per day. A little steep for area.

Great hotel within walking distance to most SD attractions

We enjoyed our stay here. Unfortunately, there was construction going on in the lobby that was really loud. Although we didn't hear it from our room, we did have to walk by it to get on and off the elevators. The area is a bit sketchy but in the day time you have plenty of nearby places you can walk safely to and from, including the piers, Gaslamp, and Little Italy. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and we look forward to staying here next time we are in San Diego.

Classy place, close enough to excitement

We stayed here to experience the nightlife in the Gaslamp District of San Diego. The price was ideal before the "taxes and fees" (why not include them in the search results). The room was close enough to walk to and from Gaslamp multiple times throughout the day and night. Room was quiet, comfortable, and clean. I would stay here again unless I found something closer at a better price.

Almost perfect

It was all great other than when I booked it through a 3rd party agency, it showed parking included and it was an additional $40 a night. If you look across the street where the valet parks the car it was the same garage charging $20 a night!

Great Stay!

Had a great time staying at this hotel. If you stay, you want to get a room view of the hotel. The hotel is a couple of walks from Gaslamp but not a long walk at all. I would definitely stay here again.

Great Views but too far to the Gas Lamp

The Hotel was very clean ; modern ; easy to check in and out. rooms excellant. I stayed on the 16 th floor. great views of the San Diego bay. but to far to walk to the gas lamp district where the clubs and resturants are located. We needed to take short train (orange line) and/or taxi. short on time we took taxi and it was $7.00 one way.

"Unbeatable location for the price"

I attended the IAP2 Annual Conference. The Westin San Diego was well appointed, very clean, with friendly and helpful staff, and in a great location. It was a very good value for the price. My only complaint was the noise I heard coming from outside the hotel, which was late evening street, rail and air traffic, as well as a loud rock concert coming from the W Hotel down the street on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009. Apparently, there was a beer festival there, which might have been fun to attend if I hadn't needed to get up early the next day for training. Unfortunately I was unable to go to sleep early because of the noise.
