Work in Progress
The entrance to the hotel was being renovated; consequently you entered through a rear construction zone. There was no lobby to speak of. Once the renovations are complete I'm sure it will be a much nicer experience. Our room was nice, comfortable beds, great bathroom. However, we could not cool down the room to our satisfaction. Thermostat would not go below 65, and room temp felt more like 75.

very decent hotel very near shopping at Horton Plaza
We used this hotel for an overnighter in San Diego. In our case, we took the Amtrak train and the hotel was just a few blocks walk up Broadway from the Sante Fe station.Convenient to tram stop and buses if you have left your car at home. (no idea what kind of parking is available). Larger than normal room was clean and quiet even though an active street was outside. (we were on the fifth floor) Fridge in room is a plus and a complimentary bottled water was a nice touch. TV was big screen type but only had all analog stations . No HD when we were there so picture on TV was so-so. Bed OK but I didn't get the impression it is any different than any other hotel in spite of hoopla.

Everything is Heavenly, except the Hotel Construction
LOVE this hotel, love the location, love the staff, love the AMAZINGLY comfortable "Heavenly" bed (in fact all their products there are called heavenly, from the shower gel to the shower head, and they definitely deserve the title). Would have given it 5 stars, but I wish I had known ahead of time that this place was currently under construction and you can't get to the lobby from some of the entrances. Also wish I knew ahead of time that the Valet parking, which you had to do because of construction, is $32 a night. OUTRAGEOUS!!! However for the gaslamp district the location is awesome and the hotel room was big, the bed was so comfortable we wanted to take it home, and the hotel staff was extremely helpful. Would absolutely stay here again.

Holiday Bowl visit
We were there for the Holiday Bowl - front desk staff was excellent - even with all the entrance remodeling going on (construction noise/closures were the only real negative - but not that bad). Hotel is located right in the Gaslamp District so we walked to most of the events including the Big Bay Balloon Parade. Room was beautiful and spacious - a memorable stay - thanks.

Gas Lamp San Diego location
The hotel is going through some construction so assess is a bit limited at this time with only one side door available. Parking is $32 per night so consider that in your price calculations. Only one restaurant/bar in hotel but many walking distance away. Fridge but no microwave in the single rooms. Nice location and generally good amenities (i.e. 24 hour gym, nice jacuzzi, ok pool, etc.). The price was reduced for this stay so a good bargain but full rates may be a bit high. Your paying for location.

Fun in San Diego
The staff was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Convenient location from the airport, but why is there not a free shuttle that could link from the other Westin which is about 4 blocks away. Easy to get the bay, Gaslamp Quarter, and Little Italy. You can rent a car from the hotel, which is great to travel up the coast. Skip eating at the Horton Restaurant and Bar, overpriced and not so great service. Rooms are great, and quiet. Love the Westin!

They were renovating at the time so a little inconvenient but it is nice now. Great location. Nice rooms but my view wasn't great. Couldn't leave early because I prepaid was the only problem and that's because policy not hotel's.

Hotel was in a major renovation project
Overall a good experience but the hotel was undergoing a major renovation. As such, not all amenities were available. Location is good though with major attractions nearby and a good selection of restaurants.

Weekend trip
The hotel is in a great location and was a decent price. The only issue we had during our stay was how the construction affected getting in and out. With only 2 functioning elevators sometimes it took a very long time to get in and out (over 20 minutes on a few occasions). Other than that it was a good value, the rooms were nice, and the vallet was quick and friendly.
