Great Location
From the minute I got out of the cab and into the hotel the Staff was impeccable from the Bellhop to the Check in. The restaurant staff was friendly and the food was great. The swimming pool, workout room and jacuzzi were clean. The hotel is centrally located downtown you could either walk or take a cab and wherever you went the cab fare was nominal.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
The Westfield Shopping Mall has every store you can think of right next to the hotel. The hotel does not have vending machines nor gift shop and does not stock munchies in the room so if you like a snack at night or during the day bring your own.

Construction!
I booked my hotel based on the pictures and location, nothing in the description, however, said there would be a ton of construction on the building. While napping mid-day, I was awoken by a jackhammer. Also, some of the main parts of the hotel were closed off due to the construction. REALLY disappointing. Kind of felt like a bait-and-switch type of situation. Not a terrible place though. Just make sure they're done with construction before you make a reservation because you won't get what you pay for.

Quick Business Trip
For being such a quick trip, this was really a nice Hotel to stay at. Staff was terrific, especially Maria Paz at the front desk. I would have liked the room to be a little cooler. Thermostat could only be set at 65. Hot water in bathroom went back & forth between hot and cold. Room was beautifully appointed and the cleanest I have ever been in, felt like I was at home. All in all a great place to stay at. Parking was not obvious and with construction, had to look around to find things. Staff very helpful though.

very decent hotel very near shopping at Horton Plaza
We used this hotel for an overnighter in San Diego. In our case, we took the Amtrak train and the hotel was just a few blocks walk up Broadway from the Sante Fe station.Convenient to tram stop and buses if you have left your car at home. (no idea what kind of parking is available). Larger than normal room was clean and quiet even though an active street was outside. (we were on the fifth floor) Fridge in room is a plus and a complimentary bottled water was a nice touch. TV was big screen type but only had all analog stations . No HD when we were there so picture on TV was so-so. Bed OK but I didn't get the impression it is any different than any other hotel in spite of hoopla.

Fun in San Diego
The staff was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Convenient location from the airport, but why is there not a free shuttle that could link from the other Westin which is about 4 blocks away. Easy to get the bay, Gaslamp Quarter, and Little Italy. You can rent a car from the hotel, which is great to travel up the coast. Skip eating at the Horton Restaurant and Bar, overpriced and not so great service. Rooms are great, and quiet. Love the Westin!

parking/construction
you have to pay for parking, they should validate it! Also there is construction going on so if your trying to sleep in, good luck with that. Other than that its close to the gaslamp and it was nice, could be cheaper for the quality.

Work in Progress
The entrance to the hotel was being renovated; consequently you entered through a rear construction zone. There was no lobby to speak of. Once the renovations are complete I'm sure it will be a much nicer experience. Our room was nice, comfortable beds, great bathroom. However, we could not cool down the room to our satisfaction. Thermostat would not go below 65, and room temp felt more like 75.

Disappointed
I thought that this hotel was supposed to be a 4 star hotel. I don't think so. First of all, the hotel was very hard to find. Next, we did not know that it was under renovation--a bummer. The room was very clean but nothing to write home about. I guess it was designed more for the business man and not couples. Very plain and business like. Only one little restaurant to eat at. There should have been more. The valets were great but did not know there was no . self parking parking. The hotel was close to many attractions.

Weekend Getaway
The hotel is hard to find with all the construction. The staff is extremely helpful and was the key to the stay. Do not park in the $32/night unless you really want the uber convenience of it. There is street parking overnight and a parking structure for half the price just a block away. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would come back if the price was right.
