Very Classic Hotel
The furniture, moldings, and even the door keys scream classic charm. They try very hard to make this a five star experience and come very close. Much of the staff is young (not always a bad thing) and may still be searching for their own careers outside the hotel industry. Since they're not fully committed, this shows through just a bit from time to time and only creates a minor tarnish. Overall, great place to stay if you want to have easy access to areas outside downtown.

Beautiful room, great view

Very nice
I will stay here again when I travel to San Diego. Large rooms, comfortable beds, etc. It looks older architecturally than it is. Love the room size.

Lovely downtown surprise
It is very nice grand hotel. There are antiques and moldings and and it is a change from the new ultra-modern look of many new hotels. The location was very good and the staff was excellent. The room was spacious and had a million dollar view of San Diego downtown. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it. Only complaint is the wireless connection had some difficulty and the bed was not as comfortable as some others.

Classy Hotel
This hotel was very classy, even had a harpist in the lobby. The hotel room was beautiful with a great view of the gaslamp district. The only confusing thing was the parking which was also $32 a day for guests! The pool was under construction and that made me sad. Everything else was superb including the staff and amenities!

Westgate Hotel
The hotel was beautiful!! However, there are several unexpected DAILY fees that we were not aware of prior to our arrival. We had to pay an additional $46/day in fees above our room rate.

good package
We were in San Diego to attend a wedding, and arranged an air / hotel package that included the Westgate Hotel. The hotel was quite nice with large rooms, super large vanity space, and a great bathtub. The location was just perfect for wandering around the gas lamp district, Horton Plaza, and the waterfront area. The package rate made it all a superb deal.
