Beware

I spent 1 night on 9/30. They decided to put me in the Third floor. This floor is where the conference rooms are located. There are a few rooms at the end of the hallway. My friends who were also staying here, could not find our room for the longest. In the room, both beds had the bedspreads with noticeable cuum stains. I tried to look for ice, little did I know I had to go three floors up for the nearest ice machine. I requested a room change. They put me in the 16th floor. The room was a little cleaner. The floor had an ice machine. Upon returning home, I saw an additional charge on my bank account for about $7.. not sure for what, will be calling them soon.

Nice hotel, not great location

The hotel was nice. Good food. Friendly staff. If you want to stay downtown, it's great. However, it's far from the Gaslamp District and all the restaurants. If you want to stay downtown, stay in the Gaslamp. If not, stay closer to the water.

Below Average

Paid extra on Orbitz to book for a 2 room 2 queen bed. Arrived and was told that one of the room will be king's bed. Extremely disappointed. Because they took FOREVER to deliver our extra twin bed into the 1 king bed room. And our 2 queen bed was a HANDICAPPED room. Will not stay here again.

Modern hotel , but not 4 star luxury

I have to say staying at the W was hassle free. The room was ready for us when we got there and no additional issues at check in which is perfect when all you want to do is hang out with your friends. I can't say I was completely satisfied though. Although the room was great... I did notice it had a very poor cleaning staff. The phones in the room looked like they hadn't been dusted in days along with the desk area. The bathroom also had that neglect that you would expect not to be overlooked by a 4 star hotel. Overall was a good place to stay, but it didn't meet my expectations.

great staff

stayed here for the Holiday Bowl and found the staff very friendly and helpful. the room was fine and everything went very smoothly...my only complaints are the location which is a little outside downtown and the decor which is over-the-top trendy. The free Accura ride was a high point.

Great stay @ The W

Stayed @ The W with a few friends for a long weekend. Hotel was very modern, clean, and impressive. Our wonderful room was a little on the small side but for not being there much, it was perfect. The bars are great, expensive but what you would expect from The W. The pool is small. All in all if you get a great deal, or can afford it - I recommend The W San Diego.

They have a great Acura Experience that will take you one way in the city at no cost in a nice Acura - great feature since it's location was a long walk from the Gaslamp (although only a less than $10 cab ride).
