Ideal Location and Comfort

The Sophia Hotel, a recently renovated building, was redone using French styling. I found the hotel to be spotless, quite comfortable and very well decorated. The rooms were small but very clean, with nice bedding and beautiful bathrooms (again quite small). The room sizes are ideal for one person business travelers although with two it's still comfortable. The location was idea being right downtown San Diego and the restaurant attached to the hotel was as nice or nicer then many other stand alone restaurants in the area. I'd stay at this hotel again and I'd recommend it to people I know traveling to the area.

Wonderful brewpub (that doesn't brew it's own beer) just a few blocks away with a great selection of beer and wine. The food was excellent and the service even better.

Excellent Central Hotel

A nice boutique hotel - looks recently renovated - very central - not far from lamplighter district. High thread coat sheets and comfortable beds. Water available in a cooler in lobby, fireplace and sitting areas in lobby to relax, plus three free computer terminals (or free wireless internet in lobby if you have your own computer). Did not try out the yoga room or fitness centre on second floor. Close to everything downtown including Horton Plaza and all bus, trolley, train connections. Airport is of course very close to downtown in San Diego - so you can take public transit from airport if you want if you don't have too much luggage. In room safe large enough to store a laptop or your valuables - handy for business travellers. Most of the rooms seemed to be cleaned in afternoon so you can sleep in as long as you want as long as you put the sign out. Front desk staff seemed friendly and helpful. Free late check outs with no charge. In general very much enjoyed my stay here - very comfortable safe hotel. Bus station next door to hotel but never had a problem walking by there even at 8 p.m. You can walk on opposite side of street if you feel more comfortable then cross back over the hotel at the side entrance. If returning to San Diego would stay here again and recommend to friends/family.

Wonderful! Great Location!

When I walked in to my room at the Sofia, I thought I'd stay forever! It was beautiful and very comfortable! Yeah, smaller than the average hotel, but I did manage to pack 5 people in a Queen bed room (3 on the bed and 2 on the floor). Perfect for fun or relaxation. It's about 3 miles from the airport(SAN) which equals about a $12 cab ride. I'd deffinatly sugest The Sofia! Perfect for Fun, Relaxation, or Bussiness. No pool, though. -tear

Very Nice Hotel

Couldn't get much better. My friend and I were just staying a few days in the area and found the location perfect for jumping on a bus to get to any of the local attractions or walking a couple blocks to the Gaslamp and eating/drinking.

Cute and Chic

The bed sheets are 100% comfort. And the design of the rooms are very chic with a bit of tradition. They have bits of history on the walls, so it's interesting to read while on your way to your room. The valet guys were really friendly and extremely useful, especially for directions to the nearby stadiums and theaters. It's located in the city, ,so there are things that some people might not be comfortable with.
