Had a nice stay
We have stayed at the Dana multiple times. It has a great location and many amenities. It is walking distant to the bay and beach. This time our microwave was not working properly; other than that, we had a wonderful time.

Family vacation
Room was clean, staff was very helpful. Dining at the Blue Pearl was a great deal for the money. Wish they had vents in the bathrooms to keep the moisture down from the showers. Overall, a great hotel. Views were fantastic! Great location to Seaworld, Old Town, the Zoo and Seaport Village.

Great Area
We were at the Dana for a week and it was a great stay! They cleaned the room everyday, provide a sufficient amount of towels, all rooms have fridges and microwaves and there is a very large television with cable. Pretty decent amount of space for 4 people. The hotel is also in a great area, its easy to access the interstates and the 101. The beaches are close and there is plentiful parking! The only thing is a continental breakfast would be nice, but they don't have that due to the 2 restaurants on site.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
Hop on over to Mission Ave and follow it north.. Plenty of places to eat and if you keep going follow the 101 along the coast line. One you reach La Jolla, the view becomes amazing all they way up!

Pretty good value for the money
We were pretty happy with the Dana; if we come back to San Diego we would probably stay there again. First the positives: 1) Loved the location. Very close to Seaworld (which is why we initially chose it) and the beach. Not too far from downtown and quick access to I-8 and I-5. 2) Loved the grounds - they were VERY well kept and my wife loved the smell. 3) Liked the restaurants (we had breakfasts at the Pearl and dinners at the Firefly) . The dinners were a little pricy but the food was pretty good. 4) Staff was very helpful and responsive. The housekeeping and the engineer (see below) came very quickly when called. 5) The pool (we only used the one on the west side) was very nice; our son loved it. 6) The rooms were neat but small. With two queen beds there was barely enough room for the three of us. The bathroom did have two sinks along with the fridge and microwave. We did have a few problems. 1) The electronic lock on our door malfunctioned one night at just about the worst possible time (9 pm after dinner with a cranky four year old and outside temperatures dropping). I went to the hotel lobby where I was given two new key cards neither of which worked. The engineer came and replaced the batteries (I think - not sure exactly what he did) and got us in the door. However, it did the same thing the next morning and the entire lock had to be replaced. My parents, two doors down from us, had the same problem with their lock although it did not require replacing the lock. 2) We went through towels quickly (we went to the pool twice a day) but the staff was good about providing extras. 3) The night before checkout I used the computer in the lobby to check in for our flights. I had to pay a baggage fee and used a credit card to do so. It is a card I use rarely (the last time was six weeks prior) and the very next day someone tried to buy $430 worth of stuff from Walmart with it. Could have been coincidence but seems unlikely. 4) Fitness area was off-site and involved a drive. There was a very nice path along the bay to run and bike on.
