Features

Built by Larry Imig in 1946, the Lafayette Hotel & Suites spent its first few decades as a popular spot among celebrities and movie stars. Dining

North Park Neighborhood Restaurants
Quickly becoming nationally recognized for it's culinary diversity and appreciation for craft beer, the neighborhood offers Lafayette guests an incredible opportunity for food exploration. We encourage you to dine with us once (ok, maybe twice) and then experience the local cuisine within our wonderful neighborhood! Our front desk can assist with recommendations and reservations.
Red Fox Steak House
The quintessential steakhouse that doesn't just reach for the lounge vibe, it helped define it. The entire interior was shipped to the United States for blonde cinema actress, Marion Davies, and was dismantled (again!) and installed at the Lafayette during the 1950's. If the history and nightly piano doesn't get you, the stiff cocktails, steak, and seafood surely will. Hours: Monday - Thursday (11am - Midnight) Friday - Saturday (11am - 1:30am) Sunday (4pm - 1:30am)
Imig's Kitchen & Bar
Loved by locals and guest alike, Imig's serves up a modern, casual and honest twist on breakfast and brunch. The relaxed and open setting gives guests the perfect space to gather daily for breakfast, brunch (or both, after all you're on vacation) or a mid-day custom cocktail overlooking the historic Weissmuller Pool. Hours: Everyday (7am - 3pm)

Wonderful stay

We decided to take a last minute trip to San Diego and stay two nights, Saturday to Monday. We read that it was worth it to pay for a pool room, and got a room right off the pool. We loved it! The pool area was fun and comfortable, the room was nicer than I'd expected. The breakfast area overlooking the pool was lovely and the food delicious. Gorgeous lobby area. Super comfortable bed. I would definitely go back.

we loved this place...

A poolside room on a typical San Diego night was our desire. What we got was an unbelievably beautiful pool and an amazing walk out double door from our room. The late night meals from the Red Fox and other on site restraunt was a perfect fit us. Quick highway access to the beaches and plenty to do in the nearby area Balboa, SD Zoo, farmers markets, shops, bars. Highly recommended for a stay while in San Diego..

Ehhhh! Budget boutique.

We booked and ended up getting a handicap room. Wasn't too bad, but it was sort of weird walking down a ramp into the shower. The hotel is quaint and has that old Hollywood feel to it. The room is where we were disappointed. It was musty and humid. The bed was okay comfort wise but the air in the room just killed it. Maybe we just got a bad room. Location is perfect if you are partying in North Park or Hillcrest.

We loved this Retro modernized Hotel. It had that old charm and great service. It was near our destination so we could have gotten a better deal. Loved everything about it.

Over Night stay- Ok

Myself my hubby and our 3 yr old daughter was in town for a night...my husband had traffic court the next day. My husband found this hotel which looked good online, family friendly which was a plus. 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suite. It had bunk beds in a separate room with a flat screen sitting table & chalk board!! She loved it. However the parking was small & limited and cost. the room itself was not very clean. The bath towels had hair on them. Baby spiders spinning from the ceilings onto my daughter as she went potty. Spider webs everywhere. Filthy carpet out dated room!! At checkout I informed guest service of the cleanliness of the room and no apologies or anything. We won't be staying again.

Always Comfortable & Convenient

I have stayed at the Lafayette several times, mainly because it is so convenient to the family that I visit in San Diego. Check in process is quick, staff is friendly, rooms are spacious and comfortable. I occasionally have a drink there in the bright, cheery lobby, but haven't used the restaurant. Parking can be somewhat of a challenge unless you get a pass for the underground garage. The neighborhood on El Cajon Blvd is a bit sketchy, so I don't feel comfortable walking alone at night time, but during the day it's fine.
