Property features

In addition to an impressive guest list, several prominent local figures have been permanent residents, including clothier Bill Solof, restaurateur Ray Lubach and San Diego Padres manager Lefty O'Doul.

Dining

North Park Neighborhood Restaurants
Quickly becoming nationally recognized for it's culinary diversity and appreciation for craft beer, the neighborhood offers Lafayette guests an incredible opportunity for food exploration. We encourage you to dine with us once (ok, maybe twice) and then experience the local cuisine within our wonderful neighborhood! Our front desk can assist with recommendations and reservations.
Red Fox Steak House
The quintessential steakhouse that doesn't just reach for the lounge vibe, it helped define it. The entire interior was shipped to the United States for blonde cinema actress, Marion Davies, and was dismantled (again!) and installed at the Lafayette during the 1950's. If the history and nightly piano doesn't get you, the stiff cocktails, steak, and seafood surely will. Hours: Monday - Thursday (11am - Midnight) Friday - Saturday (11am - 1:30am) Sunday (4pm - 1:30am)
Imig's Kitchen & Bar
Loved by locals and guest alike, Imig's serves up a modern, casual and honest twist on breakfast and brunch. The relaxed and open setting gives guests the perfect space to gather daily for breakfast, brunch (or both, after all you're on vacation) or a mid-day custom cocktail overlooking the historic Weissmuller Pool. Hours: Everyday (7am - 3pm)

Thanksgiving in San Diego

Would recommend Mon, Nov 30, 2015
The hotel is fun and funky. The pool is great. The beds were comfortable. Food in the restaurant was great. But, the walls are paper thin. There was a giant chess board right below our room where kids would knock over the pieces late into the evening and early in the morning - very loud and annoying. I'd stay there again but only in one of the rooms at the back of the pool.

Eased Anxiety of a Job Interview

Would recommend Wed, Oct 21, 2015
Hope provided fabulous flavors and a relaxed warm light to enjoy an inspiring late dinner and early breakfast Americana. The short-ribs and polenta combor with spiniach and tomatoes was a tribute that Sinatra would have loved and smartly recommended! Oatmeal, not with raisins, but cranberries was also a twist on tradition, supplemented by service that Latina/os deliver with pride. I'm heading back here on my next trip to San Diego and look forward to frolicking in the warmer western waters of the pool!

Great for SDSU, San Diego and La Jolla

Would recommend Tue, Sep 22, 2015
The hotel was centrally located for our trip which encompassed visits to SDSU, restaurants and sites in San DIego, and kayaking (!!!) and restaurants in La Jolla. Each of those destinations was less than 15 minutes away by car - and parking was free and convenient! Room was clean, comfortable and attractive, reminiscent of the hotels's history. Staff was friendly and helpful, and on-site washer/dryer very handy for laundry before leaving the hotel.

This is a very fun Hotel. I do think it should be an adult only place. This should not be for kids. Great lobby and The Red Fox Room is wonderful.

This a secret gem away from the traffic & noise of downtown San Diego. Lafayette has a beautiful classic Hollywood lobby & swimming pool. The place is clean & cozy and we would stay there again.

Wonderful stay

Would recommend Mon, Apr 6, 2015
We decided to take a last minute trip to San Diego and stay two nights, Saturday to Monday. We read that it was worth it to pay for a pool room, and got a room right off the pool. We loved it! The pool area was fun and comfortable, the room was nicer than I'd expected. The breakfast area overlooking the pool was lovely and the food delicious. Gorgeous lobby area. Super comfortable bed. I would definitely go back.

we loved this place...

Would recommend Mon, Apr 6, 2015
A poolside room on a typical San Diego night was our desire. What we got was an unbelievably beautiful pool and an amazing walk out double door from our room. The late night meals from the Red Fox and other on site restraunt was a perfect fit us. Quick highway access to the beaches and plenty to do in the nearby area Balboa, SD Zoo, farmers markets, shops, bars. Highly recommended for a stay while in San Diego..
