I booked this hotel on line. All I wanted was a hotel on the beach.... but I got so much more... location location location... the bus line was close and EASY... access to Old Town, Balboa Park, La Jolla. Walking distance to a variety of
restaurants, a grocery store, shopping, shell gathering and even a bead shop to make your own jewelry. So much to do and not enough time. I would definately stay there again!

Not a bad stay
Overall the stay at Surfer Beach hotel was average. I was very happy to have a full kitchenette in the unit from there the ammenaties went down hill. The internet connection was the worst I've ever had, worse than when dial up was first invented
and the TV reception was subpar. But most people don't go to the beach for internet and TV. The location was great, right on the beach and the house keeper was wonerful.

Weekend getaway
We made a reservation for 3 nights in a room with a king bed. The 1st night, we discovered when going to bed that the bed was actually a queen and in bad shape. We contacted the front desk and was offered another room but declined to move until
the morning since we had already settled in for the night. The next day we packed everything up and were moved to a room with a king bed that was more comfortable for the following 2 nights. Unfortunately, the room was right next to the laundry room and our view was obstructed at best.

Get what you pay for
We signed up for a king-size bed/standard room and we booked it months in advance for a couple of nights in November. We were initially put on the bottom floor facing away from the beach and the room was very small and not what we signed up for
with this hotel. Luckily, we asked to move to another room and there was a room available on the second floor, semi-facing the ocean that was much bigger and it had a couch in it. The hotel is in a good location for walking the boardwalk and going to eat/have drinks at any of the bars or restaurants on the beach.
