Nice hotel
I have traveled to San Diego on a number of occasions, primarily for business purposes, and have stayed at a number of hotels in the area. I have stayed at the Marriott Marquis 3 times in the past, both for business purposes and for leisure, and it has always been a pleasant experience. My most recent trip was over the Xmas holidays to attend the Holiday Bowl. The location is great, right on the water, and adjacent to the Convention Center, with great views of the harbor and of the city, depending on which side you are on. The lounge area is beautiful and the room are nice, clean, with good amenities, but are slightly on the smaller side for a Marriott depending on where you are located on the oval tower. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. The one concern is that in some rooms, noise transmits through the ducts so depending on the room you are in, you may hear your neighbors, as I did on one occasion. However, the staff is extremely accommodating and in that case, changed me to another room, which did not have that problem. It is typically one of the most expensive hotels in the area, so the cost may be a factor for some, but I got an incredible deal on the Internet. Overall, I give it 4.5 stars. As I stated previously, I have stayed there before, and would not hesitate to stay there again if the price remains reasonable.

If you want a meal that's more than meat and potatoes, try Urban India. Just a short walk into the city on 4th Avenue and well worth it.

The hotel was lovely, the food was amazing, rooms were spacious and clean with a great view (we were on the 23rd floor). Everything was perfect except that the tequila bar and grill, which I was looking forward to visiting, was closed the week we were there.

Lovely Motel on the Water
I was very pleasantly surprised by my room. It was roomy, clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. I had been told I had a view facing the city rather than a bay view. I was put in a room on the 21st floor at the end of the hallway and had windows on two sides of the room. The views were spectacular. The city was beautifully lit up for the Christmas season and, even though I was not promised a water view, I had that also. The motel turned out to be right next door to the meeting location and is very conveniently located to the airport (less than five miles.) Taxi rides to and from the airport were $13 excluding tip. There was an walk along the bay easily accessible to the motel and shopping. The city has cable cars which run across the street from the motel. I would stay in this motel again. It was absolutely lovely and transportation for activities was readily available without having to rent a car.

Use the public transporation. It is right across the street and is very reasonably priced. It will save you renting a car and attempting to drive in a strange city.

Holiday Accomodations
Our experience at the Marriott Marquis was very positive. The staff was accommodating and always available for questions. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, and the restaurant at the hotel had quality food and the option of a Thanksgiving dinner.

What a view!
The hotel is beautiful and there is an abundance of things to do and comfort to be had. The location is within walking distance to a lot of attractions. A hotel-airport shuttle would be a nice addition. Very beautiful view and the staff was ALWAYS courteous. I do recommend this hotel, hands down.
