Great location for tennis at Petco Park

Traveled to San Diego to watch Davis Cup tennis at Petco Park. Hotel was ideally situated in Gas Lamp Quarter and for visiting other major attractions including San Diego Zoo. Staff were warm and friendly. Suite had excellent facilities including large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and hob. The complimentary breakfast had wide selection of food including hot buffet which was different every day. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays the hotel also provides complimentary evening snacks. Easily accessible free wi-fi also available. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

Family Trip to San Diego

Overall an excellent hotel experience. The staff were better than fantastic. The location is right in the heart of the Gaslamp District which made it perfect for walking. It was an easy drive to Seaport Village, Old Town and Balboa Park. Balboa park is where the zoo is located and so much more. There are about 20 museums as well as an excellent kids playground in the northwest corner of the park that we took our 3y/o daughter to 4 times. There are free computers with printers in the lobby that came in handy for printing park passes etc. The hotel has free appy's on Monday-Wednesdays and an excellent continental breakfast (not the best I've had, but close). The beds though not the most comfortable I have slept on (Double Tree by Hilton), they were comfortable. I wouldn't expect an adult to sleep on the hide-a-beds (I've never seen a comfortable hide-a-bed), but it was fine for my daughter. ****PARKING**** Unless there is an event at PETCO Park, DO NOT use the valet parking ($39/night). There is a massive parkade at the end of the block on the left (you could throw a ball to it from the hotel doors) for $15/night. I only have two complaints about the hotel. 1) there is no Hot Tub, 2) the elevators smelt like a wet dog. It is also worth mentioning noise; the Gaslamp district can be somewhat noisy (on the weekends in particular) and so there was some noise. It seemed to settle right down after about 10:30 and we didn't mind (my daughter had no problem sleeping through it). I would definately stay here again. Overall, I would absolutely stay here again.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

If you have small kids and want to take them to a playground, the one at the northwest corner of balboa park (off of Sixth st.) is excellent and there will be many other kids there.

Convention access

Great access to the convention center and the Gas Light area. Very comfortable and clean room. Free breakfast had expansive choices - hot and cold.

Great Hotel

We had a wonderful experience as soon as we entered. The check-in staff was exceptional and upgraded us to a corner king suite when we mentioned we were in town for our anniversary! She also gave us a credit for a free dinner at the hotel restaurant - which was exceptional! Free breakfast was a nice perk, although not the best food every day it was a free meal! Would definitely stay here again.

Awesome trip

I have nothing bad to say about this hotel. The staff was excellent, awesome very helpful. The room was clean felt like home. Stores close to the hotel, shopping and lots of resturuant and if you're a party goer the gas lamp area is the place to be on the weekends. It was awesome, I will go back again. There was 1 thing I didnt like...... Parking!!! There's no free parking. Be ready to give up your first born just to park your car.

Great location - Nice Remodel

This hotel is very close to the Convention Center and walking distance to plenty of restaurants in the Gaslamp district. They had a recent remodel -which resulted in nice, modern decor. The complementary morning breakfast is HOT and better than most "free breakfast".

Great Stay, Attentive Staff

The hotel staff was excellent. I had to have multiple packages delivered to the hotel, and they readily accommodated me. On New Year's Eve, they let me into my room (with proper ID, of course) when I got separated from my friend who was carrying the room key. The location in Gaslamp is excellent, and relatively affordable parking is right across the street for $10 (for overnight) or $25 for all day. The only two drawbacks? Wish it had a hot tub and the sofabeds are NOT even remotely comfortable. Otherwise, great hotel!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Asti Ristorante at 728 5th Avenue is a short walk with delicious Italian food. My friends and I were meeting up for the first time since our trip to Italy, and this restaurant fulfilled our craving for delicious Italian food comparable to what you will find in Firenze or Roma!

wonderful, just-like-home feel

This was the perfect place to stay while attending a conference (at another hotel venue). It provided a quiet retreat from all the conference hustle-bustle plus all the terrific amenities (free internet access, hot breakfast, kitchenette, location, and friendly and helpful staff). Only wished my wife were with me to enjoy San Diego.
