Great Location

Staff is very friendly. Room was very clean and quiet. Old fashion elevator was very slow and difficult to get luggage in and out. A great 24 hour restaurant attached. Great breakfast and get a 10% discount when staying at the hotel.

Great old hotel!

Staff was great! Valet parking was expensive, but not as expensive as the lot next door; however, expect to wait a while to get your vehicle since the valet lot is nowhere near the hotel. We had an interior room so noise from the Gas Lamp District was not a problem.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

If you have ever been to the French Quarter in New Orleans, the Gas Lamp District, althogh not as old or with as much character, uses the same "model" as a neighborhood food/entertainment area. Everything in the District is within walking distance of this hotel.

Not your typical Ramada

This is a charming old hotel in the Gaslamp quarter. An easy walk to all Gaslamp attractions....which was mainly restaurants. The staff were very friendly and the shuttle back and forth to the airport was free! No need for a car here. An easy walk to Horton Plaza where you can get the Trolly Tour or light rail. The elevator was creaky and double door old fashioned, and the rooms were small, but the roof top patio view was terrific. Would definitely stay here again.

Upgrade, yay! Housekeeping, boo...

I was thrilled to be upgraded to a suite! The room was incredible. Unfortunately, I left what was clearly a birthday gift when I checked out, and when I called later to see if they could mail it to me, no one would help me. So checking in - staff was great. After I was gone...well, apparently someone in housekeeping used my $50 gift card as their tip. Shame on them.

reminds me of those niche hotels in San Francisco

The age of this hotel shows, but it is more than compensated by the friendliness of the staff. I would book this hotel again, except for saturday night. It is located closed to those bars, and the noise level on saturday night was certainly more than average.

Great Value

After reading some of the other reviews, I was a little bit worried that my trip might not be the best. However, I found out the the negative reviews must have been written by WHINERS. This hotel was great, especially for the price. Yes the rooms are on the small side, but the location, character, and other amenities more than make up for it. Plus, the 24 hour restaurant next to the lobby was great at 5 in the morning. This hotel was perfect for my trip.

Gaslamp Bar Hopping

This hotel surpassed my expectations. It was one of the cheapest in the Gaslamp Quarter District so I booked here based on the convenient location to the bars. If you're looking for a peaceful quiet getaway, you shouldn't book in this area since the street noise can be loud and last very late on weekends. The hotel was very friendly and knew a lot about the bars and clubs in the area. The $20 valet service was worth it since there are ins and outs 24/7. Valet was quick to bring around your car when you called the desk. The hotel elevator were very old fashioned but it fit the overall feel of the hotel. Very retro and comfy. The rooms were very kept clean. We booked two queen beds and it was a happy surprise when it wasn't your average two queens together in one room. The beds are separated by a wall and locking doors that offer extra privacy. It was great for changing and both queen beds had their own rooms AND had their own TV! The restaurant located attached to the hotel is opened 24 hours which is very convenient when you are bar hopping til the early morning! :) I will definitely be staying here again soon!

Great if you want to visit San Diego Gaslamp District. No bar, historic building. Awesome view from roof top seating area.
