DO NOT STAY HERE!

Would not recommend Mon, Nov 23, 2015
Showed up and the staff behind the counter was watching a basketball game on his phone but was nice and polite. Had me sign the paperwork and handed me 2 keys. Elevator was one out of a horror movie, pull open door and then sliding gate that was awkward to hold open both at the same time. Felt like I was in a cage being transported to a dungeon. The room was on the ninth floor and barely big enough to fit the queen sized bed. There was a coat hanger bar for clothes, a tiny nightstand with phone and alarm clock pushing each other off the side. A tiny desk with the coffee maker and reading light battling for real estate. The toilet had a strip of paper marked sanitary probably because the seat looked like it had leprosy. Had a set of earplugs for the guest on the bed, enough said on that. There is no wifi. It shows up but you'll never get a thing downloaded, not even a home page. Closest thing to living in the house from the movie Fight Club I've ever been. Cost me $30 to get 3 tshirts and 3 underwear washed. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Pleasantly surprised

Would recommend Tue, Nov 17, 2015
My stay was very enjoyable. At first, I was anxious because the hotel was older than I expected, having been constructed in 1912 and it still had the elevators that were installed at that time. Loving history, I came to enjoy the adventure of riding the old style elevators and to experience the ageless quality of the hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and, being located in the Gaslamp district, the hotel provided the opportunity to explore this part of San Diego.

Clean safe cheap and fairly close to Gaslight area and convention center. An easy walk. One of the few that does not overly take advantage of their local.

Good for value. Best if noise doesn't disturb your sleep

Would not recommend Mon, Oct 26, 2015
The staff was helpful and friendly. The Wifi service was painstakingly slow. The nightlife surrounding the hotel was quite active and therefore resulted in a rather noisy sleep.

Ramada San Diego

Would not recommend Thu, Sep 3, 2015
The hotel is quite old and even though I knew this in advance, it could still use a little sprucing up. The bed was comfortable, the location is good and the staff is nice. My biggest issue was the inconsistency with the wi-fi. We couldn't even use the computers in the business center to print boarding passes because the wi-fi wasn't properly working. Tried the night of check in and again the day of check out. Ended up having to have the staff print for us and to process transaction to add a bag to my flight because the wi-fi didn't work in the business center BUT worked for units tht staff used. Yep, had staff try to get us online and that didn't work either. I would reccomend to a friend IF THEY DIDN'T REQUIRE the wi-fi usage only. I was at the end of my telephone plan and was trying to take advantage of this.

Scary hotel but nice staff

Would not recommend Thu, Aug 27, 2015
It is a very old style hotel don't get me wrong, so the elevator being hard to use is understandable. However, all the signs in the rooms and extra door locks creeped me out. Plus the fact that you could hear the neighbors whispering in their room was weird. I also found used tissue next to the bed and garbage under the desk. Even hair in the sink was kind of disgusting. The staff at the front dest were nice and even in the bar, not a very good selection of wine though. However, if you want to use the shuttle to the airport (the main reason I booked at this hotel) you will need to tell them 24 hours prior. Luckily the guy came in early and was able to take me.

Affordable place in good location

Would recommend Wed, Aug 12, 2015
Cannot complain about this stay. The location of the hotel is great and offers good value for the money. The historic elevators' doors are too strong to operate easily especially with luggage, I think they could do something about that and still keep them historic. Wireless was very bad at times.

Nice, but average

Would recommend Sun, Aug 9, 2015
I stayed here after flying from the East Coast, and before going down into Baja. It was a fairly convenient stay, with van from the airport and a couple-minutes walk to the trolley for the trip south. Not outstanding, but definitely not painful, either. For a partier, the Gaslamp District setting would be primo, but for me merely interesting.
