Great Value

After reading some of the other reviews, I was a little bit worried that my trip might not be the best. However, I found out the the negative reviews must have been written by WHINERS. This hotel was great, especially for the price. Yes the rooms are on the small side, but the location, character, and other amenities more than make up for it. Plus, the 24 hour restaurant next to the lobby was great at 5 in the morning. This hotel was perfect for my trip.

Reasonable for the price...

I was spending one night in San Diego, to attend a convention at the San Diego Convention Center and wanted something close and inexpensive. The Ramada Inn certainly qualified on both accounts. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is open 24 hours, which made it easy for a late check-in. The room was small, and the building was old. It looked like they did a remodel, but a number of years ago, so it was starting to look a little "saggy". Walls were relatively thin, as I could hear the loud women in the adjacent room on her cell phone. Fortunately, she stopped before I went to sleep. Truthfully, I would have spent a little more money and stayed in a different hotel, in retrospect. My wife gets specials, as she's a member of a certain boutique hotel chain's "club", so I could have stayed at one of their hotels down the street for not much more and it's STUNNING. All said, for $99, it was fine. No real complaints.

Oceanaire Seafood Room. Only about 4 or 5 blocks away from the hotel. Not cheap, but WOW the crab cakes were phenomenal and the service was impeccable!

Not at all as pictured

Beware that the pictures are probably of the only bright clean room in the hotel. My room is about 12 by 12 with NO CLOSET!!!!! It is like staying at a YMCA. I cannnot open the blinds, so it is like Dark in here all day. DO NOT STAY here unless you absolutely have to! The furniture looks like it came out of Goodwill, the bed and linens are crummy and next time, I will stay at a tried and true Marriott.

Ramada Inn

The room was nothing like the pictures. The room had no refrigerator or microwave or closet to put our clothes in...however, the location is great. I would not stay there again.

New Years Eve

The Ramada is in a great location in the Gaslamp District. Walking distance to great bars and restaurants. I've stayed here a few times and it is a very good value. The only thing is that the rooms are a little cramped. The elevators are different. They are original to the building. Kinda cool if you are in to those things. The elevators are slow on very busy weekends. So of you can, get a room on the second floor so you can take the stairs.

reminds me of those niche hotels in San Francisco

The age of this hotel shows, but it is more than compensated by the friendliness of the staff. I would book this hotel again, except for saturday night. It is located closed to those bars, and the noise level on saturday night was certainly more than average.

Location Location Location!

In the heart of the Gaslamp District - we walked everywhere - except to/from the airport, but they provide a free shuttle! We loved the quaint feel of the hotel and the antique elevator. Make sure to go to the rooftop for a great view and to get a little sun!
