Outdated hotel room interior but good relative bargain

The hotel room furniture and television were very outdated. The furniture was very noticeably scratched. However, the room was clean, the AC worked well, the fitness room was decent and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Overall, a good value.

staff made it better

Stayed here for President's Day weekend. The hotel was nice, but nothing to write home about. The layout reminded me of an apartment complex I used to live in, with everything circling around the pool and courtyard on the inside. I did not use the pool but it looked clean, and I did see a lot of people use it. There were loud guests staying that weekend, but that's the nature of holiday weekends. My favorite part was the staff, who were extremely accommodating. After booking my trip I called to get clarification on the room I had booked, and they changed it for me without question (was originally assigned to a room with two queen beds, and I just wanted one king bed). When I checked in, I was given a room right next to the downstairs restaurant. I asked if I could be moved to a higher floor (being right next to the restaurant was not my idea of a peaceful weekend) and they moved me to the third floor, no questions and no hassle. Very appreciative of the staff and their professionalism. Note: there isn't too much around the hotel, so I found myself going to Poway a lot for restaurants. The hotel is VERY close to the freeway, so that was a major plus.

Good place to stay while attending conferences.

We had a comfortable time while here. My only recommendation would be to clean the shower walls and bathroom floor with more care. I don't like strands of hair anywhere. The beds were clean and that was good.

great hotel for the money

Nice hotel for the money. Free breakfast was great with lots of variety. Ask for a room facing away from the pool. Try not to get a room near the restaurant as it is VERY noisy. From inside our room we could hear every clink of a fork against a plate and could hear even normal level conversations. Late at night it was quiet. Other than this minor annoyance, it is a perfectly fine hotel and great for the money.

Great service & value, big clean rooms

I booked this hotel based on good reviews and the good price and I'm glad to say that we were not disappointed. The staff was very friendly. They gave us 2 free drink tickets that we were a little reluctant to redeem, since the place looked so empty, but we were glad that we went. There is an onsite restaurant called JJ's Grill and they gave us giant pours of wine. Nearly to the brim :) We also ordered a pizza. We expected them to just pop a frozen one in the oven, but then we noticed the chef cutting up fresh bell peppers and mushrooms for us. It was a fantastic pizza. The bartender lady and the chef were really nice and friendly. The rooms were really clean and pretty new looking - we had a "junior suite" which included a sofa and desk area, but wasn't really necessary. The water was nice and hot. My mom's bed was a bit too soft, but mine was fine. Their hot breakfast is really great. Good spread - eggs, sausage, oatmeal, dry cereal, pancakes, yogurt, bagels and pastries. I would say that the only downside to this hotel is its location. There isn't much around to do. There's a few restaurants, like Elephant Bar and Starbucks. The mall is a few exits down the freeway. And it's about 40 mins from Balboa park (where we came from) and another 45 mins to Temecula (where we went the next day). Overall though, we were very satisfied.

Nice Hotel

Very nice staff. Room was good and location of all the rooms seemed good. We only stayed overnight but plan on staying here for several days in the summer since it is a good central San Diego location.
