close to heart of Pt Loma

Convenient location close to Pt Loma Sea Foods, sport fishing landings, and SD yacht club. Also close to the small shops that make Pt Loma more of a small town than most of SD. Parking is tight - OK for a small car, but a problem for a big SUV. Room was fairly small, but well arranged with microwave and table. Traffic noise from Rosecrans could be a probem for some rooms. Small older hotel gave me a friendlier vibe than big motels.

Pt Loma Sea Foods is great for an early dinner, but crowded for lunch.

Lackluster

The cashier at check in was very accommodating and courteous. The room was cramped with two double beds and little room to walk. The carpet was stained, the bedspreads were from the 1970's and smelled musty. The desk was old, battered and too big for the room. The microwave would not pop popcorn and the alarm clock did not work.

Average Getaway

Continental Breakfast was not as advertised, very limited in very small lobby, had to take items to the room. No eating room TV remote did not work. Had to change channels individually. Noisy. Could hear Guests next room talk into the night

Motel in Transition

The Point Loma Inn was a motel in transition. We received what was called an upgraded room. The room was a good size, however it was incomplete. The curtains were partially missing and the stove was not lit. There needed to be a separate sitting area, there was an absence of furniture. To truly be called upgrated, perhaps a new bed or linens, at least extra pillows and a blanket. The staff was nice and the room was clean and freshly painted, with new carpet. There was a bit of an off smell, almost as if this had previously been a smoking room? I would refer this property with reservations, depending on when the renovations are complete.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Point Loma Inn at the Holiday Inn not far, has delicious breakfasts. This hotel is not too far from Seaport Village, which is further south past airport, off Harbor Blvd.
