The good and not so great.

Nice location, but that was it. Rooms need updating and repair. Limited places to eat, and the food was expensive. Parking is not free, even to hotel guests. Will go someplace else next time.

Go to downtown San Diego, for more of a choice on restaurants. It's not far, and worth it for the choices.

paradise point

Arrived at hotel and only one specialist was at reservation desk who was on phone entire time and was given no indication of amenities. Said I received 'upgraded room' but I had to move since the window was not covered at night (even after they came and unscrewed lightbulb was quite bright with window uncovered)-- and the location was on a lagoon with no fence and I had twin toddlers. Also, there was no drain in bathtub so could not give kids a bath, and had to have someone come and fix TV which took over an hour.-- Second room was much better, but a bit dirty, no glasses in bathroom--just little doilies, and had to have a new remote delivered for tv. location was very close to sea world-- but don't understand why they did not provide a shuttle-- especially since they charged $25 per night for parking. Restaurant was nice.

SO SO!

I liked the location.. That's about it! The room had a musky smell to it that slapped you in the face when you entered. They were outdated and needed a renovation badly. That must be why they collect a $25 per day parking fee for an empty lot. I should of booked the car at the motel 6 down the street and saved a few bucks. Not to mention an extra fee ($12/day) for using the workout facilities. If comparing this hotel to another don't forget to add $25 per night for your car.

The good and not so good!

Although we had booked this trip many weeks in advance, upon checking in we were given the second to last available room with a king size bed. The scenery at the resort was absolutely gorgeous but in no way prepares you for your room. The room is very dated and dirty during our 4 night stay. It wasn't what we had expected. We didn't spend much time at the resort because we didn't want to spend much time in our room. When comparing our room with the pricey restaurants and shops, the difference was like night and day. Be prepared, looks are deceiving.

The good and the bad

The location of this resort was great - very close to Sea World and the Zoo, 1.5 hours away to Disneyland. The hotel itself was.......okay. Parking was expensive, $25 per day (that charge wasn't mentioned when we made reservations). We ordered a studio suite with a kitchen, only there was nothing in the kitchen - no utensils of any type, no dish soap, papertowels, etc. It did have a coffee pot, micro, and small refridgerator, but unless you bought utensils, there wasn't much you could prepare for yourself - which is probably their intent since there are two restaurants on location - one medium priced, the other expensive (as in $35+ per person). Our coffee pot did not work, the freezer in the fridge froze everything (water, apples, carrots, soda) even though we turned it down as low as it would go, and the heater in the room didn't work correctly. We had to keep getting up during the night to turn it down or up - there was no inbetween or anyway to set it at a temperature that it would keep. Also, while it appeared clean, our white socks didn't stay white for long while walking on the floors in the room. All in all, if we got a good deal and we were looking for someplace central in SD, we'd maybe think about going back, but this isn't a place where we would make it a point to visit again for the facility itself.

Nice resort but the price sucked

The hotel was pretty and clean and in a great location. It would be a great vacation spot if you have kids, but not really that great for a couples get away.It was right next to the beach so u did not have to drive everywhere to get to them so that was nice.We did not have hot water for almost a whole day which really sucked. They have a lot of activities to do there but they charge u to do any of it and then on top of those prices you get charge a daily fee for all that including the internet rather you use them or not. Over all i would not stay there again.

[...] when I arrived there, they said there was no vacant room of it and gave me lower grade room. Also, when I checked in, they did not explain the detail of cost I need to pay including parking fee and some passport fee (I don't know what it is.) and placed those when I was checking out. Overall, not recommened considering such an expensive cost.

Great setting, disappointing service

The setting was beautiful. Rooms were charming, but customer service was horrible. We wasted most of our first day waiting for our room to become available. We finally got in our room over an hour AFTER check-in time. Our room was not cleaned one day. And...they overcharged me $75 when I checked out. Make sure you go over your charges with a fine-toothed comb...I hear that is common practice.

Expensive Getaway!

The first room we were put in had an excessive amount of mold on the ceiling, the second room we were put in was much better. The management was very helpful with our move. If you plan on staying here be prepared to open your pocket book, there was a "Passport to Paradise" fee of 15$ per night for amenities like, telephone, internet, basketball, tennis. This fee is mandatory, also you have to pay 28$ a night for a tiny parking spot. Both of our rooms were not cleaned to our satisfaction, if you walked on the floor barefoot your feet would be quite dirty. The grounds are beautiful, and the main pool is nice, the other pools are on the small side. Also if you plan on going on the beach then you better book a bayside bungelo, otherwise you will have to bring your own chairs. The restaurants are super expensive, I would not recommend staying here because the value just is not there.

As you pull out of the resort make a right turn and go over both bridges and you'll find many dining areas that are less expensive.

Started Out Good

Our Stay started out good but began to deteriorate as the hotel room became less cleaned daily to the point where they were not even leaving coffee or clean cups. Unfourtunate because location and facilities were nice - but live in a dirty room and the whole experiance is lost
