Great value for a quiet winter getaway

I chose this hotel largely because it was the only hotel for which the [...] star rating was actually less than the average reviewer rating. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. The staff was obliging and friendly when I wanted to commandeer their kitchen area to make myself a giant green smoothie with their Vitamix. The only demerits were: - outrageous $20/night parking- in this day and age and at a 4 star hotel I expect wifi to be free, I guess they haven't gotten the memo- in marked contrast to warm and classy decor and picturesque setting, we were greeted by grating and insipid christmas carols blaring over the PA in the hallways and on the elevator.

Amazing couples getaway.

Our stay was amazing. Location is great, room was excellent. Had a first floor partial ocean view with a king bed and kitchenette with bar, with sliding glass door access to hot tub and pool. Even though we only stayed 1 night, it was the perfect place for a one night San Diego getaway. Would definitely head back for another 3-4 day weekend. Only downside I could find would be that the hot tub and pool are only open till 10. Some late night soaking would have been perfect.

Romantic Surfside Getaway

Fabulous. We paid $30 at the desk to upgrade to a full ocean view, and WHAT a view it was. We had a room with a rounded balcony on the 2nd floor that overlooked the boardwalk and the ocean. We sat on that balcony all day, watching the sun set with a bottle of good red wine and some gourmet chocolates. When we got bored we hopped downstairs for a dip in the jacuzzi and a surprisingly temperate pool given the time of year (early December). We would definitely go back. While the beds were a bit heavy for us (bulky thick dark wood) and the comforters were about 2 decades out of style. At times I felt like I was in a room that came out of the set of The Golden Girls. Still, the experience overall was fabulous -- and who needs stylish decor when you have a balcony to relax on. Bonus points: the rooms are spacious and do not smell like hotel. I loathe hotel smell.

UNMACHED SERVICE AND VIEW!

For comfort, elegant surroundings, outstanding service and an incredible view, Pacific Terrace cannot be matched. The property is beautiful, the furnishings are gorgeous, the hotel staff goes out of its way to make guests feel special and pampered, and the view from the balcony is absolutely breathtaking! Everyone on staff smiles at you, is genuinely interested in your comfort, and goes above and beyond what travellers usually expect.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Among all the things to see and do while in San Diego, dining close to the Pacific Hotel is as close as a short walk along the boardwalk or a few steps away on Mission. Upscale sunset dining or breakfast by the ocean, it is all there within a few moments walk along the beach.
