Right by the Bay
For the price it couldn't be any better. Although the room may have not been of the newest design, but it was clean and comfortable. The attendent let us use his phone to order dinner. The bed was comfortable, especially for our bad backs.

OK value for a two-star crash pad
The room was clean, TV and AC worked. No closet. Safe locked with a key, which you pay for separately. Water coming out of the sink was very stinky. Noisy! Trains running next door day and night with that infernal "ding-ding-ding" and honking train horn. Also at all hours of the night was a metallic "boom boom boom" sound, like a pile-driver.

To get to the convention center, get on the Blue Line going south. Get off at the second stop (American Plaza) and switch to the Orange Line. Usually takes about 25 minutes total, vs about the same by walking.

A decent, basic hotel
This isn't a fancy hotel and the trains are loud but it's adequate. I think the people who give it bad reviews have expectations higher than you can expect for a hotel at this price. The location is really good. It's close to the waterfront, the train & tram stations, and restaurants. It's clean enough but it's basic. No hairdryer in the bathroom or anything like that. Overall, it's a good value and a decent place to stay. But if you are a light sleeper I wouldn't recommend it because the trains are pretty loud (they didn't wake up me or anyone else in my family though).

Barely adequate
Amenities? The only one was bottled water in the room at no charge. . No coffee pot, hair dryer or extra blankets in the room, and not enough parking. There is also a train that runs right by the motel, with whistles and rumbling late into the night. The staff, however, is friendly and helpful. And it is reasonably close to restaurants, the Convention Center and the airport.

Your Basic Motel
Located next to railroad tracks. The train comes through at about 6am and blows its horn for about 15 seconds at intervals. Not a problem for me as I was already up and was able to go back to sleep. One night, a plane taking off from the airport made the room vibrate, but other than that I never heard the airport noise. No hair dryer in the room.

If you're there for a few days, get a MTS trolley ticket ($12 for 3 days). You are on the blue line and if you take it south to American Plaza, you can transfer to the Orange line and go to the Gaslamp where all the great restaurants are located. Toscano Restaurant was very good but small. Reservations a good idea.

Perfect for the price its a good motel

good stay over
We have spent a few days in this hotel post cruise.The staff was pleasant and helpful .Continental breakfast sufficient. Hotel is close to train station, and the airoprt so bit too noisy. One can get a good rest at night from 2330- 0700

We would like a refund - we're serious
We are requesting a refund. The noise and activity in the room next to us kept us awake from 2:00am - 5:45am and we had to get up at 6:00am to get our flight. The people woke us up around 2:00am when they came in with loud shutting of doors. They talked continually with occasional loud laughing and/or arguing. At 4:00am they and maybe others went out and were talking loudly. We called the front desk and they responded and threatened them with calling the police. they went back into the room and continued talking and other things until 5:45am. It was a very tiring and unpleasant night.
