Good value
The hotel is located about 10 minutes or so from downtown, where I had business meetings. For the money, the room was nice and fairly quiet. Nice restaurants and shopping just a minute away. The hotel staff were responsive, helpful and friendly.

Great locatio to Old Town
On the way to Old Town we stopped for drinks, lunch and desert. Many places to choose from and always good service. We loved the many shops, they showed off the Mexican and American Cultures. They had some unique and interesting things. We love strolling through Old Town every time we are in San Diego. The Hotel was near the Airport, Down Town and the Cruise Terminal. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Will stay there again.

MA to CA family
whole family loved it here
I picked an Old Town location, rather than a Gaslamp or Seafront location, for our family holiday, hoping for a low-key, accessible neighborhood. As it turns out, seems like most of San Diego is low-key and accessible, AND we loved our choice of hotels. I found the name misleading - sounds like a business chain hotel - when actually it is a charming, independent-feeling place with some chain elements (like the breakfast - fine, but not homey). Our daughter (11) was mildly ill during the stay, so we spent a lot of time in and near our room, and still didn't feel claustrophobic because of the pool, the courtyard, the neighborhood. We plan on going back.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Old Town is quite charming, and can be quite touristy. While all our meals there were adequate, we found the best restaurant in Old Town tucked away in a corner - The Pinata Mexican restaurant, "oldest in Old Town". Simple food of quality. Look beyond the main street of Old Town.

Good location for a walking vacation
The hotel was within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops in Old Town and near the main location of the Old Town Trolley. We did not have a car during our visit, so it was very helpful to have walking access to these points.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
Take advantage of the chance to get off and on the Trolley at various stops around the city and spend some time walking around the areas. Our favorites were Coronado Island and Balboa Park.

Excellent Value Excellent Stay
This hotel was an excellent value in San Diego. Located in Old Town with lots of fun restaurants and shops, as well as an historic park make this a great area to visit with kids. Not far from the zoo, the beach and Sea World as well. I highly recommend a stay at this hotel in San Diego.

No compaints
This hotel was comfortable and completely adequate for a few nights. The price is reasonable and it is still located close to most things. I like the fact that it is located far enough away from the interstate that noise is not an issue (I find this to be a major problem with many of the hotels in the comparably-priced hotel circle area.) Very nice spread at breakfast. Loved the free internet access.

Great Location
The Holiday INN Express in Old Town San Diego is perfect because its close to the airport, old town San Diego and its an exit away from Sea World. The room had enough space for us and it was walking distance from great restaurants. My only issue was check in time was at 4:00pm. I would have preferred a noon time check in.
