Dining

Red Fox Steak House
The quintessential steakhouse that doesn't just reach for the lounge vibe, it helped define it. The entire interior was shipped to the United States for blonde cinema actress, Marion Davies, and was dismantled (again!) and installed at the Lafayette during the 1950's. If the history and nightly piano doesn't get you, the stiff cocktails, steak, and seafood surely will. Hours: Monday - Thursday (11am - Midnight) Friday - Saturday (11am - 1:30am) Sunday (4pm - 1:30am)
Imig's Kitchen & Bar
Loved by locals and guest alike, Imig's serves up a modern, casual and honest twist on breakfast and brunch. The relaxed and open setting gives guests the perfect space to gather daily for breakfast, brunch (or both, after all you're on vacation) or a mid-day custom cocktail overlooking the historic Weissmuller Pool. Hours: Everyday (7am - 3pm)
North Park Neighborhood Restaurants
Quickly becoming nationally recognized for it's culinary diversity and appreciation for craft beer, the neighborhood offers Lafayette guests an incredible opportunity for food exploration. We encourage you to dine with us once (ok, maybe twice) and then experience the local cuisine within our wonderful neighborhood! Our front desk can assist with recommendations and reservations.

Nice pool but small rooms

Great pool setup for those rooms around the pool area. Nothing too special about the other rooms. It's an older hotel very nicely renovated. Small rooms but comfortable beds.

LOVE!

Was a quick trip, one night, and I wish we could've stayed longer. At check in I was surprised to find they upgraded our room to a 2 bedroom townhome! 2 story, with a small kitchen, dining area, living room with a fireplace. It was absolutely adorable. Couldn't have been happier. Its also in a great location. I would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Would be perfect if the location was a little better!

Upon arriving at the hotel, 15/20 mins from the airport by taxi we were greeted by two very friendly and helpful members of staff. They checked us in really quickly, gave us an extended check out time and helped us locate bus routes and attractions. The room was not as big as expected, but was very clean and the bed was very comfortable and big! The shower was perfect. Hotel was about 30 mins walk to the zoo & Balboa park, much less by car and about 15mins from downtown by bus. The pool was pretty nice, as was the restaurant in the hotel. If you stay here, you should also check out BBQ 81 across the street. Best sweet tea ever, and delicious food. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!!

Good for the price

The best thing about the property is of the staff at the front desk--who were super helpful and friendly. The property is one of those old hotels that's been restored to have trendy modern vibe. The rooms were adequate, not great, and pretty clean. Beds were decent. Bathroom was a little small, and the water pressure wasn't great. The pool that seems to be the signature feature was pretty narrow and small, and a little green--so we didn't swim. The on-site restaurant had some great food; service was a little slow. For what we paid ($110 per night) it was a good deal. I would not be pleased if we paid much more than that.

Great City Trip with todler n baby

We stayed at this hotel because This hotel-search-engine says on their hotel description: "All rooms have in room refrigirator and microwave". Thats a LIE. There are 4 different types of rooms in the hotel and ours (standard) does not have these amenities, again, another reason we decided to book this hotel was the fact that this hotel-search-engine says "free San Diego Zoo shuttle". You guesed it, incorrect. There is NO free shuttle at all. Asked the hotel clerk for all of these things and said that this is incorrect and that will inform this-hotel-search-engine about this error. So, even if they forget to update the description, I will post this here. The rooms are clean and very neat. Sizes are small but comfy. The swiming pool is awesome and made a great plus if traveling with kids. Location of the hotel is in a "pride" neighborhood, I'll just leave that info there, the restaurant food if very very good. My compliments went out to the chefs, BUT the mayor dissapointment here was a huge FLY PROBLEM! Could not enjoy our lunch because we were waving out our hands until they hurt. When asked the waitress to address the problem of at least 10 flies, she literally handed me the electric fly swatter! I killed at least 8 of these ugly huge green flies, but my meal got cold due to help my family try to eat. This was discussing and felt I wasn't supposed to do this. If I saw a rat would I be given rat poison to kill it myself! Did mention this to staff, I hope they tweak out these details. Would have given 5 stars, but small rooms and flies where took these away

When you first pull up you get the feeling that Cary Grant will step out to help you w/ your coat. It's very retro! Their ate pictures of all the old time classic movie stars who stayed there. The room was huge! The pool is beautiful & also huge! The staff were very pleasant & helpful.
