Pretty Darn Good

i loved it .the hotel could have been a little closer to the old town (maybe i'm just lazy) but the staff was very helpful and very nice even though i always need late night service because that's the only time i'm in the room. they weren't over bearing about my dog walking around and not being in his carrier. VERY pet-friendly.

Marine Corps Graduation Trip

We stayed at La Quinta Old Town and not having stayed at a La Quinta before we were somewhat aprehensive. For no good reason. Our stay was outstanding. Not 20 minutes after settling into our room the front desk called to see if everything was satisfactory. The front desk staff was exceptional the entire length of our stay. The beds were incredibly comfortable. Nice clean room and common areas, continental breakfast, internet, and basic items for sale in the lobby. Did not use the pool facilities at all. Wonderful walking distance to Old Town San Diego restaurants, shops, etc. Best restaurant was by far Miguel's for Mexican food. Great shuttle service to and from the MCRD base which saved us a great deal of time getting to and from our hotel. For Marine Corps graduation, this was a great choice for accomodations. We are picky people but everything turned out wonderfully.

Go to Miguels for Mexican food. Lovely atmosphere, best tortilla chips of any place downtown, nice wine selection and the Carne Asadas tacos were amazing!

Additional charge for parking?

The hotel was ok, we only used it to stay overnight to take a flight the next am.The room was clean and no smoke smell, which is what i was looking for. Really easy to get to the airport from there too.To my surprise they charge $10 per day on parking, good thing i only stayed there one night.[...]'s website does not mention anything about the charge for the parking,[@] does mention it, not so much the $10 but the fact that they failed to mention the charge, make it unreliable on what else orbits miss.Other then the charge for the parking everything was fine.

Great Location at a good price.....

I was in San Diego for a relatives wedding and the LaQuinta Old Town hotel was the perfect location. Close to the airport, local tourist sites and the beaches are just a few minutes drive away. The staff at the front desk were very nice and helpful and the hotel was neat and clean.

Horrible

We ran into delays because of Wisconsin weather and when calling the hotel to let them know we would be a day late, they were unwilling to work with me to refund our money. I called [...] customer service and they came to the rescue! They were very professional and helpful in getting our refund for the one night we didn't stay. The reason we picked this hotel is because they provided free shuttle service. However, we waited almost two (2) hours for the shuttle at the airport. I called the hotel four (4) times and each time they said the shuttle was delayed, but on it's way. The staff never apologized on the phone or when we checked in. I'd also like to mention the so called "complementary breakfast" was less then complementary. It was slim pickings every morning (6:45am) as well.

Time-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

This location was good for attending the MCRD Marine Graudation, but nothing more. The building we stayed in was looking out towards a major highway and was very loud. The contential breakfast was slim pickings every morning as well.

Great place to stay for MRCD Graduation

Minuts from the Marine Graduation and Airport. We stayed in November 2009. They picked us up at the airport and Shuttled us to and from the Graduation at the MRCD. Room was small and Clean. Perfect for a short stay. Pool and Hot Tub was great. Free Breakfast was skimpy. You will want to plan on going to breakfast before heading to the MRCD as you will be walking ALOT!! I would stay here again for sure.3 things about the hotel.(1) You will get alot of coupons shoved under your door for local resturants which they do deliver...perfect!!!(2) watch out for the surpirse charge for the safe in your room..whether you want/use it or not.(3)Finally, SLAM THEM DOORS!! seems this is how they do it in California.Every neighbor to us side to side and top to bottom Everybody was slamming the doors in which you hear every one of them all hours of the day and night. But after your first day at the MRCD, You will be so tired it won't matter.Lots of walking. I would recomend this hotel to everyone. The Staff was very friendly and the Shuttle Drivers are Great.

Kind of a Dud!

Our experience was very mixed. The location is very noisy with window open, it is actually facing I-5. The exterior court area is in need of attention. I was mis-led on parking fees, I chose to stay here because it incluced breakfast and no extra parking fee. Well friday morning when the waffle batter ran out at 8:15 am no more was avaliable and the sweet rolls ran out too. The coffee is a concentrate/mix. No sign of fresh brewed! The Parking fee was $9.00/day which I was not expecting. On the bright side the beds were fresh and clean, and it is walking distance to Old Town. Overall I would not stay here again, perhaps the same area but definitely another hotel. Very hard to get to, from the map it appears you can go north on PCH from the airport find a little street that crosses under I-5 and get to the hotel. Well NO!! Actually you have to get on the freeway and take the Old Town Exit.
